In this one we see the Capitals who have been incredible on the road this season visit Philly to take on the Flyers who have been abysmal at home. They are 8-13-5 on home ice this season something that the Flyers faithful are foaming at the mouth over.
The Caps have had their struggles in net this season but have had their forward depth cover up those warts for the most part. The Flyers are expected to be sellers at the deadline and likely enter a rebuild.
Veteran forward Claude Giroux is in the final year of his deal and is in talks right now with management to find a willing combatant to take on his cap hit and also one that he agrees to waive his no move clause for.
So with all those nuggets in mind let’s look a little further in this one and see what we like.
Washington Capitals
The Capitals are expected, unlike their opponent, to be buyers at the upcoming deadline. One area they need to address is in net as noted above.
A name they have been linked to this season is Marc-Andre Fleury who is also on the final year of his deal with the Blackhawks. He is playing excellent for a bad team who is also going to be looking to get some assets for the future in return.

What Washington does not lack is offence. They score at a clip of 3.21 goals per game and the Flyers give up on average more than that.
Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers are dead. It’s just that simple.
Keith Yandle has been a terrible pickup, Carter Hart has gotten hung out to dry night after night. They have some good young players of course but no real line drivers that can take over shifts or games.
It’s time to blow this up and rebuild. I expect to see Giroux dealt by the March deadline to a contender.
He has been linked to Colorado, St. Louis and Minnesota. At least those are the three that have been released to the media.

Free Washington Capitals vs. Philadelphia Flyers NHL Prediction
I am taking the Capitals puckline here. I like the juice they get on the road for this one.
The Flyers are just awful in their own zone and I cannot see a world where they can defend the barrage of pucks the Caps send at the net. Carter Hart is getting the start and they will need a miracle from him in this one.
