The Ottawa Senators are heating up at the perfect time as they continue to close the gap with the Montreal Canadiens in the Atlantic Division.
The Devils, on the other hand, look to keep their playoff hopes alive with less than 25 games to go.
Ottawa Senators
The Senators have impressed many this season by playing such quality hockey with so few playmakers. Despite lacking a true No. 1 goaltender and an offense that ranks 17th in goals, Ottawa is only two points behind the Habs for the division lead.

The Sens have won four of their last five and are gelling on both sides of the ice. Goalies Craig Anderson and Mike Condon have allowed a combined eight goals over their last five games (1.60 goals per game), and the offense has scored 17 goals in that same span (3.40 goals per game).
Ottawa has also played incredibly well against the mighty Metropolitan Division. Despite it being a much tougher division than the division they play in, the Sens are 11-4-2 vs. Metropolitan opponents.
With first place in their grasp, look for the Senators to keep up the pressure against an inferior New Jersey team.
New Jersey Devils
Despite possessing one of the most inept offenses in the NHL, the Devils find themselves only four points out of a playoff spot. It’s incredible, really, because New Jersey’s defense hasn’t been anything to write home about either.
Goaltender Cory Schneider has dropped off significantly from last season, yet the Devils remain in the postseason mix. Schneider enters this game 19-17-8 with a 2.63 GAA and a save percentage of .914. Nothing special, indeed.

The Devils have scored just nine goals over their previous five games (1.80 goals per game), and they’ll need to be much better than that against Ottawa’s 11th-ranked defense.
Taylor Hall leads all Devils with only 37 points as New Jersey is one of the few teams in the league without a 40-point scorer on the roster. It makes sense, though, as the Devils rank an abysmal 29th in goals per game.
New Jersey is also 0-2 against Ottawa this season, having been outscored 6-1 in those two contests.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Senators are 6-2 in their last 8 road games.
- Senators are 11-4-2 vs. the Metropolitan Division.
- Senators are 4-1 in their last 5 games.
- Devils are 6-6 SU in their last 12 games.
- Devils are 7-12 SU vs. the Atlantic Division.
Free Ottawa Senators vs. New Jersey Devils NHL Hockey Prediction:
The Senators have quietly closed the gap with the Canadiens in the Atlantic Division, and they’d love nothing more than to keep that up with a win in this game.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Ottawa ML
Ottawa is playing tremendous on both sides of the ice over the last two weeks, and I think the Sens will be too much for an offensively challenged New Jersey team to handle.
