This is an interesting line to look at, upon first glance that Oilers puckline looks pretty appetizing.
But the Sens are winners of 4 straight themselves and are playing their best hockey of the season as well as they host the red hot Edmonton Oilers tomorrow morning for yet another matinee in the Sens schedule.
So as these teams hit their stride in the ladder half of the season they meet for the first of two meetings, and we’re gonna take a deep dive into it to see which side we like.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers are clicking right now after a disappointing first half, which seems to be par for the course for this new iteration of the franchise. 4 seasons in a row now during the McDavid Draisaitl era the same conversations are had about them, which I too am guilty of.
Having said that, as hyped as I am as a bettor and a fan at the moment, they are feasting on a weak part of their schedule. Whether or not they can keep this going only time will tell but for now they are looking like a top ten team in the NHL.
Offense
The Oilers offence for the first time this season has relinquished the title of #1 in the league in goals per game. The Boston Bruins have just passed them by a hair with 3.73 to the Oilers 3.71.

Goaltending
Nothing really new to report here, Campbell continues to shine after what was a bad start for him, and Stuart Skinner was an NHL all-star in his rookie campaign so this is not an area of concern if you’re an Oilers backer.
Ottawa Senators
The Sens were in dire straits in the few weeks prior to the All-Star break. Media availabilities were like watching early 2000’s French torture porn horror movies, it hurt to watch despite the many degrees of separation.
Fans and reporters alike were calling for head coaching changes, personnel changes, ownership changes, a laundry list of villains responsible for the failure to produce any meaningful progress post rebuild.
After losing 5-1 to the Jets on January 21st though, these Senators are firing on all cylinders and have some promising storylines coming out of the break.
Offense
One of those is Tim Stutzle, the dude is on a tear.
In the absence of Josh Norris, Stutzle has carved out a role for himself as one of the Sens go to guys offensively. Not that he wasn’t before necessarily but wasn’t often spoke of in the same regard as his injury stricken comrade.
Defense
Defensively the Sens live in the exact same neighbourhood as the Oilers, 20th in goals allowed per game to the Oilers 19th with 3.18 and 3.15 respectively, 20th in shots on goal per game allowed to the Oilers 23rd etc. No real edge for either team here.
Goaltending
Goaltending is a glaring hole for this squad as it was for their foes last season. Anton Forsberg is expected to go for them in this one who has had a mediocre season to this junction, 11-10-2 a 3.13 GAA and .905 sv %.

Free Edmonton Oilers vs. Ottawa Senators NHL Prediction
I think the Oilers are going to feast on this Zub-less and Talbot-less Sens team tomorrow morning after a disappointing outing against the Flyers, in a game that was a goaltenders duel that they managed to steal a point from.
They’re still hot, and I intend on riding the hot hand. Yes, the same could be said for the Sens, but their wins have come against mostly weak competition save for the Maple Leafs. So gimme the Oilers puckline here.
