Their numbers are pretty mediocre everywhere you look. Their goals per game is middle of the pack, their goals allowed is middle of the pack.
The Kraken on the other hand are playing some damn good hockey. Shooting percentage is 5th, power play is 8th.
So this one is pretty tough to predict due to both teams playing styles and how comparable their numbers are. The Rangers have the higher end talent for sure but I am not sure they match up well against this pesky Kraken team.
So let’s take a closer look at this one shall we.
New York Rangers
The Rangers are starting their stud goalie Igor Shesterkin in this one who has come on as of late but wasn’t playing his best hockey to start the season and the Rangers were losing because of it.
Which indicates to me everything we saw and talked about last playoffs and that is that this Rangers team is basically as good as their goalie. The offence isn’t quite there right now which will come I think but if they aren’t giving Shesterkin any run support this team is in shambles.
Seattle Kraken
This team is taking a big step forward after a poor inaugural season. Last year an issue for them was defending and Grubauer had a major let down of a season so they could not prevent offence to save their lives.
That is vastly different this season. Martin Jones gets the nod in net for this contest and he’s having a renaissance of sorts.
Posting a 2.38 GAA and a .909 sv% with a 7-4-1 record. He is in the zone and looks like the old Jones I lost my rent money on when he started for the Sharks in the Finals.

They play very fast and up tempo, with a ton of grit and can stop pucks when they give up chances. The Rangers aren’t a team that dictate play and when they are forced to get away from their game they lose.
It all depends on Igor which is a risky thing to bet against, I hear you. If he shows up the Kraken may not be able to solve him.
But he’s showing that he’s human this year and I think this game could come down to special teams which favours the Kraken.
