The Sabres are flying outta the gate this season and I know hindsight is 20/20 but even when the Knights made that trade for Eichel I said it was the wrong move, which is almost certainly correct now.
Not that Eichel is a bad player by any means but the value they gave up in this guy Alex Tuch and how badly it strapped them, I think they’re regretting that decision now secretly.
Tuch is an absolute weapon out there, he’s big and fast and shoots the puck just as well as Eichel.
The Habs on the other hand have had a slow-ish start but it certainly ain’t all bad at all. In fact this team is exciting to watch and have gotten some quality wins for a very young team in a rebuild.
Jake Allen has also had an impressive start posting a .913 save %.
So let’s dive into this Atlantic Division bout shall we.
Montreal Canadiens
So I kinda love the Habs. I’ve only watched one full game this year, their first one against the Leafs which I was rooting them on big time in and they looked great.
They have some serious pieces and they will be an absolute force down the road but for now they are still young, inexperienced and lack depth to win consistently.
They keep games close though, they are not an easy out and this Sabres team despite their hot start isn’t that much far off of the Habs still.
Buffalo Sabres
Some of the Sabres team offence analytics suggest they are absolutely humming right now and in terms of shooting percentage and goals per game they are which is I guess what matters most.
But they are certainly not perfect and the other metrics suggest they could be in line to cool off especially if they run into a string of good goaltending.
They average 29 shots on goal per game which is 22nd in the league, they are also weak on special teams as well as in the faceoff circle. Some very important areas as we all know to sustain success.

4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Canadiens ML +120
I’m gonna hop on the road dogs here and take a shot with Jake Allen who is expected to start in this one. I know the Sabres are the better team right now but I think the gap between these two is a lot closer than people think.
Therefore I am going to take a chance on the Habs to get to 500 on the road here.
