So my hot streak ends with the Oilers puckline last night that really should have hit which is frustrating. But overall my plays have been winners at a very high rate, I don’t enjoy tooting my own horn but in this business sometimes you have too.
In this one there’s actually a couple markets I like and we’ll break it all down!
Firs things first, I am surprised to see the Oilers favored in this one. They were favored against them back on the 25th where they fell to them on home ice, and now are going into their building which is one of the most hostile in the league with no days rest.
I won’t be taking it for a few reasons some logical some not, but there is value here on the Vegas side again at even money.
I only caught the first two periods of their game last night against the Coyotes where they did have some good moments but they looked like a team that kind of mailed it in to me. Campbell actually looked good for what I saw which was a very welcome sight to behold and Draisaitl was an absolute beast as he continues his tear down the stretch.
The Golden Knights are enjoying a very nice run of their own right now which includes the aforementioned win over the Oilers a few nights ago which got heated in the latter half of the contest so we shall see if that playoff vibe carries over in this one.
My guess is that it will.
Las Vegas Golden Knights
In the previous matchup between these two the Knights capitalized on a handful of breakdowns by the Oilers to one-up them on the scoreboard and really didn’t beat them handily by any stretch.
This is not a knock on the Knights at all, they played well and they are a great team I just think that game was a little bit more the Oilers beating themselves more than anything. More on that in a minute.
Offense
But at any rate it goes without saying that this group is special and have considerable depth up front.
I would say it’s better on defence for sure but offensively this team is no slouch and they continue to get it done without their leader and best player Mark Stone.

They are 15th in the NHL with 3.26 goals per game and 14th in shooting percentage which seems a bit below expectations but the important thing is they win.
Defense
Defensively this team is so stacked I can’t say it enough and we covered it the other day so I won’t beat a dead horse. One thing I will highlight is that this team takes the least amount of penalties per game which is a great skill going against the most lethal powerplay in the league.
Goaltending
Jonathan Quick will get the start as it looks and he’s been excellent as we’ve covered.
Edmonton Oilers
My puckline didn’t hit which I am choked about because even though they didn’t deserve it, they still blew a 2 goal lead. Obviously Edmonton found a way to win despite lacking their best effort which is a positive sign but this Coyotes team was not to be taken lightly which they proved to be true.
At any rate, they got the two points which is huge.
Offense
The myth that this team lacks depth needs to die. I was listening to the episode of Spittin’ Chiclets this morning where Paul Bisonnette and Ryan Whitney were debating the Oilers vs. Kings and Biz as much as I love the guy continues to perpetuate falsehoods about the Oil.
He cited the Kings 10 players with 10 or more goals as a measuring stick for having “crazy” depth and in the same breath said the Oilers lack it despite having 10 of their own with 10 goals or more and a +40 goal differential to the Kings +22 so.
This bs about Edmonton lacking depth scoring just needs to end. It’s not true.
Defense
No change here. They’ve definitely improved but they still need work and to tack on some analysis about the breakdowns I touched on earlier, this happens far too often game to game which is without a doubt my biggest knock on Edmonton.
It has been all season long and really goes back to previous seasons. This has to be a focus for the coaching staff and if they did hypothetically clean this part of their game up I think they would run through everybody in the west including the Avalanche.
Darnell Nurse had an excellent game again which included him finding the score sheet. Love his game right now.
Goaltending
Stuart Skinner will be the starter.

Free Edmonton Oilers vs. Las Vegas Golden Knights NHL Prediction
I am going to get back on my program and take the juiced total which is the under in this one. Something doesn’t feel right about the Oilers being favored again but I don’t want to bet against them either because I think they will be highly motivated for some revenge.
It will be an intense game again so hang on to your hats.
