Well folks, wrong again. That last one was on me. Can the Oilers stave off elimination at home tonight? Without Evander Kane?
It’s going to be an uphill sled for sure and I am losing faith. The Avalanche are showing us precisely why they are the best of the best and short favourites to win the cup.
There is zero time and space out there for this Oilers squad and every loose puck that slithers away from the action ends up on an Avalanche stick. If you’re an Oilers backer or fan it’s incredibly frustrating to watch.
Leon Draisaitl went down awkwardly with Colorado forward Nathan Mackinnon in the second period of last game which appeared to aggravate his high ankle injury once again. After that play we went down the tunnel briefly to shake it off but looked considerably worse after the fact.
One thing about Edmonton is that they seem to play well when desperate, and so that is their only hope tonight. If they want to chip away at this hole their in they’ll have to have their most valiant effort of the season.
Edmonton Oilers
Important notes for the Oilers: They are likely to be without Kailer Yamamoto for the second straight game and Evander Kane is suspended one game for his boarding of Nazem Kadri in game 3.
Mike Smith kept them in the previous game. He played stellar and just did not get any run support. I expect more of the same from him tonight as he’s shown he’s a battler.
Colorado Avalanche
The Avalanche just have to play their game. Against a depleted Oilers team that’s on the ropes.
Put them down. End my misery.

Overview 4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Over 6.5 @ -135
I am tempted to take the Oilers again on the moneyline here, in fact I probably will but I cannot honestly advise you all to do the same. My play tonight is the O/6.5
The fourth win of the series is always the hardest one to get they say, and I expect Connor McDavid, Mike Smith and Zack Kassian among others to come out flying. I really doubt the Oilers are just going to roll over and die tonight.
Perhaps wishful thinking.
