The Dallas Stars play the third leg of their four-game road trip that has been anything but positive.
If there’s one game the Stars can salvage some points in, it’s this one, as the struggling Canucks have lost four straight.
Dallas Stars
The Stars enter Thursday’s contest like a wounded animal, but will they lash back? Dallas has been abysmal their last three games, being outscored by a count of 17-4, and 12-2 over their last two road games.
Dallas’ first leg of their trek through Western Canada was a rough one as they were manhandled by the Edmonton Oilers to the tune of 7-1. Thankfully for Dallas, the Canucks are not a good hockey team and the Stars can salvage some pride.

Goaltending is a mess and the prime time players have been anything but of late.
Dallas has had to yank their goalie in each of their last three games as neither Kari Lehtonen or Antti Niemi has been able to make it through 60 minutes.
Jamie Benn has been held pointless his last three games and is -4 over that stretch. Not much better from Tyler Seguin who has one goal for just one point in those three games and is -2.
Vancouver Canucks
It’s pretty much proving grounds for next season for the Canucks at this point. Vancouver is 12 points off the pace with just 13 games remaining and now is the time for their young guys to show what the team has to build off of.
Bo Horvat has been one of the lone bright spots for the Canucks this season, posting 46 points in 68 games, already six better than his total of 40 points over 82 games a season ago.
The 21-year-old is on pace for 55 points this season and looks like he has the makings of the team’s number one centre down the road.

For as bad as the Canucks have been, it’s hard to place much blame on goalie Ryan Miller, who just hasn’t had a lot of support most nights.
His goals against average isn’t shining at 2.73, but the guy faces 30+ shots almost every night and is maintaining a .916 SV%
This team will improve as defensemen Ben Hutton, Troy Stecher abd Nikita Tryamkin get more games under their belts, but right now the Canucks are just too inexperienced on the back end.

Two teams that just don’t play very good defence, with a history of high-scoring affairs, the over looks like the way to go in this one.
