Tuesday when the Blackhawks head to Montreal for a Tuesday night game with the Canadiens, it will be two original six teams battling for points.
The Blackhawks are within striking distance for first place in the Western Conference. The Habs are looking to hold onto their slim grip over top spot in the Atlantic division, as they are only 2pts up on Ottawa, and the Sens have two games in hand.
Chicago Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks are only 1pt back of the Minnesota Wild for top spot in the Western Conference, though the Wild have one game in hands. The Hawks kept their hopes for home ice advantage for the first 3 rounds of the playoffs alive when they beat the Wild on Sunday.
The win over the Wild was an important one for Chicago, especially considering they had lost games on Thursday and Friday night. A 1-0 loss to Anaheim and a 4-2 loss to Detroit had fans worried the team was falling into a slump at the wrong time.

A 42 save performance in a 4-2 win over Minnesota has confidence in goalie Corey Crawford high. The 32-year old is sporting a .919 save percentage this year.
This week the Blackhawks will have 1 game in Quebec and 2 in Ontario as part of a 3 game Canadian road trip. They’ll head to Ottawa on Thursday and Toronto on Saturday night.
Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens seem to have put it all together lately. While a midseason coaching change is rare amongst cup contending teams, their February replacement of Michel Therrien with Claude Julien seems to have pushed the Habs right back up to the top of the heap in the east.
Last Thursday the Habs took a six game win streak into Calgary, where the Flames were working on a 7 game win streak of their own. The Flames hotness out hotted the Habs however, and beat them 5-0.

On Saturday the Canadiens bounced right back however, with a 4-1 win over the Oilers. The Habs, who have at times this year showed an inability to score, got two goals from Paul Byron and another two from Max Pacioretty.
The Habs had Montoya in net for the game against the Flames, meaning Carey Price’s win streak is still ongoing. The 29-year old goaltender hasn’t lost a game since February 23rd against the Islanders.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Hawks are 8-1 last 9 road games
- Habs are 7-1 in last 8 overall
- Habs are 7-1 in last 8 Tuesday games
- Home team is 13-3 in the last 16 games
Free Chicago Blackhawks vs. Montreal Canadiens NHL Hockey Prediction:
The Canadiens are playing pretty hot right now. In fact Carey Price hasn’t given up more than two goals in a game for over a month.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Habs -120
As good as Chicago is I just can’t see them taking points away from Montreal this game, though they might grab one of their own by taking the game into OT..
