Tuesday night, the Calgary Flames head to Smashville to take on the Central Division’s Nashville Predators.
The Preds, coming off a great 4-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, will look to carry that momentum into Tuesday night’s matchup.
Calgary Flames
The Calgary Flames haven’t been particularly good on either side of the ice. Offensively, the team has some weapons but can’t score consistently. The team sits 21st in the NHL in goals this season. On defense, the Flames rank 18th in goals against, letting in 167 on the year.
Offensively, Johnny Gaudreau has been struggling this season and hasn’t lived up to his “Johnny Hockey” moniker.

Gaudreau has been okay at times but hasn’t been able to find the back of the net much. He has just 11 goals and 24 assists this season.
Over his last five games, he doesn’t have a single goal and has just one assist.
A lot of the goal-scoring has fallen on center Sean Monahan. Monahan has 19 goals and 16 assists on the year, but has just one assist over his last five games.
He’s been in a similar slump as Gaudreau and these two need to find their offense again to give Calgary a chance.
Nashville Predators
Nashville is still in the playoff race in the Central and needs to win now and often from here on out. The Predators have been a fantastic defensive team this season and the offense has started to get better.
Defensively, the team has given up 159 goals on the year, 13th in the NHL.
The defense hasn’t been a decent for most of the year, but the offense needs to start playing better. Nashville is 15th in the goals scored this season with 164, but has looked better recently. The team has 18 goals in the last five games.

Right wing James Neal has 17 goals and 12 assists on the year, but has been in a goal-scoring slump recently. He doesn’t have a goal in his last five games, but has contributed with five assists.
Stepping up recently has been left wing Viktor Arvidsson. He has 18 goals and 21 assists on the year, including three goals and an assist in his last five games. His three goals came in the form of a hat trick against the Florida Panthers.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Calgary is 6-2 ATS in the last eight games
- The Total has gone OVER in five of Nashville’s last five games
Free Calgary Flames vs. Nashville Predators NHL Hockey Prediction:
Calgary has played some solid games recently, but hasn’t been particularly consistent. The team got a 3-2 shootout win over Pittsburgh but followed it up with a 5-0 loss to a poor Arizona team.
Nashville is a better team in a better division and that should show on Tuesday. Nashville gets the W at home.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: OVER 5.5
Nashville’s defense is usually solid, but the team has let in a lot of goals recently. However, the offense has been good as well and the Preds have been able to score a lot. This game should see the Total go OVER 5.5
