We have a lot of action this week folks! For this one we’ll take a break from the Madness of college hoops and head over to the ice for an easy one.
The Buffalo Sabres come to Edmonton to take on the Oilers for the first time this season. They recently made the news for booing Eichel in his triumphant return to which he said was “the loudest he ever heard the place”.
The Sabres are in a rough place organizationally. Not only are they awful, but they also lack direction.
Alex Tuch has been the lone bright spot of this team this season and they are, in my opinion ruining Rasmus Dahlin’s career.
So, let’s take a further look into this hockey game and lay the Oilers lol.
Buffalo Sabres
The Sabres are 9-16-4 on the road this season and they are 4-6 in their last 10. They do have a cute little two game win streak they are currently riding though.

I do not mean to throw too much shade at them I feel bad for the players in that franchise. The way this organization is run makes me sad and I really think they will not find success for years and years to come.
They’re penalty kill is 21st in the league so they better not take too many penalties against this Oilers powerplay otherwise it could get ugly.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers are flying pretty high at the moment. Under coach Jay Woodcroft who took over when Tippett was fired last month, they have gone 10-5-1.
Their powerplay has looked better, they seem to be less sloppy defensively and well structured. In the game against Tampa Bay recently which I covered the biggest thing I noticed was their sense of urgency which is something they desperately need to keep up down the stretch.
One thing that still has not changed is their poor goaltending. Koskinen has looked good at times in his last 15 starts but he also just let in 5 goals against the Wings a game they could have easily lost had it not been for a late and lucky offensive surge.
As a fan of theirs, and just as a fan of hockey in general, I desperately hope they trade for a goalie as I believe them missing the playoffs in year 7 of the McDavid and Draisaitl era would be catastrophic.

I am going to hammer the Oilers puckline in this one. I think they are really feeling the pressure of the situation they are in and are playing like missing the playoffs will cost them their lives.
I do not see how the Sabres can keep up with their offensive attack or their speed. Mike Smith is unfortunately expected for this one so I expect the Sabres to a couple gimmies but I think the Oilers win by multiple anyway.
