For this one we head to the bay area where the Bruins take on San Jose at the shark tank. San Jose is coming off a win and the Bruins are winners of three straight.
The Sharks are still technically in the hunt right now so it’s unclear what their plan is coming up at the deadline. We have covered it here before about Hertl and his future.
The B’s have some question marks right in their lineup as well, but it is very clear they are likely to be all in, hunt down a playoff spot and try to go for broke as their window is closing.
So with that in mind, the line set, let’s dig in.
Boston Bruins
The Bruins lack of scoring depth has shown this season. Outside of the perfection line they don’t produce a ton of offence.
At 2.88 goals per game they need to get stellar goaltending to stay in games which has also been inconsistent this season. Swayman appears to be the goalie of the future but he some room to grow into that guy yet.

Defensively this team is pretty solid. Respectable in the goals allowed column, don’t allow a ton of shots and are excellent on the penalty kill.
San Jose Sharks
The Sharks have Reimer starting in this one who is just obviously not the answer moving forward. They are only 7 points back of the last wild card spot in what is sure to be a dogfight in the west, so technically still in the hunt as noted above.
However they have not given any indication what they plan on doing moving forward. They do have some really good young talent which includes Hertl but also Timo Meier who projects to be a star for years to come.
But they are bogged down by some big contracts like Burns and Karlsson who are not what they once were.

I am going with Bruins puckline in this one merely because of Reimer being in net, and because I don’t like how any of the Sharks defenders matchup against Boston’s big line.
I do like how the Sharks forwards play a lot, they are big, tough and fast which is certainly a good recipe against the Bruins, but those qualities just don’t really translate into the analytics.
They are 24th in goals per game and 21st in shots on goal per game, with as you can imagine, not a great shooting percentage.
