This Super Bowl looks like one that should be very exciting. We have lots of star power and players that have proven they can win on the big stage.
That is a high total though, a combination of perception and reality as the big game approaches.
Kansas City was the top-offensive team in the NFL this season. Hitting, close to their season average with an average of 30ppg in the playoffs.
Oddly the Bucs averaged the same in their three playoffs wins to get to this point. If we can get 30 from each team in this spot all those over bettors will not have to sweat too much
I think this is definitely going to be a game where the defenses might make a few plays but in general, will be trying to catch their breath all night.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay averaged 30ppgs during the regular season so their playoff scoring is hardly a fluke.
Sometimes in the playoffs you can get some real grinders but Tampa has stayed true to form. It makes it easy when you have an experienced arm like Tom Brady’s.
These teams met during the regular season, with the Bucs losing 27-24. They got down early and scored a bunch of points late but by that time the game was already over.
The game was a bit of a history lesson with Rob Gronkowski being the top receiver for the Bucs in the loss. Lately, he has not been featured much though he is getting some prop love.
Some think the Bucs may try to run the ball more with Leonard Fournette who has been effective down the stretch during the regular season and into the playoffs.
The strategy is sound in terms of trying to burn some clock but I am not sure you want to try and beat the defending champs with your best weapon still in its holster.
There were 51 points scored during the regular season meeting between these two. I think Tampa can do more than contribute 24 in the Super Bowl.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs might have been tops in yards this season but they were “just” sixth in points scored at a smidge under 30.
They are always so tantalizing with the overs because no matter the rankings they can be so explosive. Tyreek Hill was awesome in that earlier game against the Bucs.
Hill is one of the most dynamic skill players in the game, maybe the best one when you are talking about the small/speedy variety. He is tough to cover.
When you are talking about big/speedy it doesn’t get any tougher than Travis Kelce right now. Kelce “only” had 82 yards against Tampa and did not score a TD so they kind of held him in check.
The hard part about defending KC is that even though those two are basically open every play they work in others guys too and those players make big plays too.
A two-week break could mean a little early rustiness for KC but at the same time, it also should help with Patrick Mahomes mobility. The more he moves around the more dangerous he can be.
Recent Trends:
- KC are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games on grass.
- KC are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
- KC are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games as a favorite.
- Over is 23-10 in TB last 33 games overall.
- Over is 9-4 in TB last 13 games as an underdog.
4* Free Super Bowl LV ATS Betting Prediction: Over 56.5
There are lots of reasons to like this total. It starts with both teams being able to score with consistency.
It also helps that Kansas City is a big-play offense. That means they can score without taking a lot of time off the clock.
Even though they are predicting a close game I also think it is possible that one team dominates. And if they do it won’t be of the 24-3 variety.
Not only can both team’s score 30 points they can each score 40 plus. If that happens than the other side will not have to do too much.
The first drive or two might be a feeling out process but once K.C. knows what it wants to do the Bucs will have trouble keeping up.
