Reports are that Tom Brady left New England after last season because of contract negotiations and tension between he and Head Coach Bill Belichick.
Patrick Mahomes emerging as the new king of the AFC might have had something to do with it too.
Brady bested Mahomes in the postseason two years ago in the ladder’s first season as a starting QB. Mahomes didn’t have to go through Brady en route to his first Super Bowl Championship a season ago.
Now they meet again, this time in the Super Bowl, with Brady in the NFC with a Tampa Bay roster much improved over his last one in New England.
The Chiefs opened as 3.5-point favorites, which markets quickly bet down to -3. Markets also expect a high-scoring game between two offensive-minded head coaches. That total is over 56.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay started fast on Sunday in Green Bay and then got fortunate later in the game, holding on for a 31–26 win in the NFC Championship.
Brady led two touchdown drives early but then stalled before capping the first half with a game-changing and most unexpected touchdown pass to Scotty Miller with one second left on the clock.
That score demoralized the Packers, who made a stop to get the ball back to the offense with a chance to score on what was supposed to be the final possession of the half.
Instead, Rodgers was picked off and then the defense blew coverage on a play that almost never happened.
Head Coach Bruce Arians was ready to punt the ball away on fourth down before changing his mind and deciding to take one more shot, which ended up being a touchdown.
Tampa scored again coming out of the third quarter on a costly Green Bay fumble.
Had that stretch gone differently, or if Green Bay had played more aggressively on what turned out to be its final possession, the Bucs may not be in the Super Bowl but Tom Brady and his team is magic.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs started inauspiciously against Buffalo but made up ground quickly in the second quarter and kept the pressure on in the second half to win 38–24.
The win didn’t come without a cost. All-Pro tackle Eric Fisher tore his achilles tendon and will miss this game and perhaps most of next season too.
Kansas City has already been without tackle Mitchell Schwartz, who hasn’t played since Week 6 with a back injury, and Head Coach Andy Reid is “not optimistic” about him returning in time for the Super Bowl.
That leaves the Chiefs in a precarious situation trying to defend Mahomes’ blind side against Tampa’s pass-rush.
Of course, the Chiefs’ penetration against Buffalo’s offense was awesome on Sunday. Josh Allen was consistently backpedalling.
If Kansas City’s defense can keep Tom Brady even half as off balanced and rushed as it did Josh Allen, it will defend its Super Bowl Title.

4* Free Super Bowl LV ATS Betting Prediction: Chiefs -3
When Brady and the Patriots defeated the Chiefs in the AFC Championship two seasons ago, Kansas City’s defense was a liability for its offense.
The Chiefs’ defense was improved a season ago when they won it all.
This season, it is even better, no longer a liability but a true asset.
I like the Chiefs because its defense can win it this game, if it has the right game plan.
KC will find a way to sure up its offensive line and scheme to account for Tampa’s pass rush. It’s defense will take care of the rest.
