SEC play rolls on as the LSU Tigers head to Rupp Arena to take on the #15 ranked Kentucky Wildcats.
The Tigers, loser of nine straight games, will have their work cut out for them against a fantastic Kentucky team.
About the only positive the Tigers can draw from in this game is that the Kentucky Wildcats actually look somewhat beatable right now, especially after a surprising 22-point loss the Florida on Saturday.
Unfortunately for LSU, the team hasn’t won a game since the beginning of January, and it’s going to be extremely tough to do so against a clearly frustrated Kentucky team.
The team defense has been abhorrent and one of the worst in the country. The Tigers give up about 81 points per game to opponents, putting them 334th out of 351 teams in the nation.
Against a potent offense like the Wildcats’, it’ll be tough for LSU to keep things close.
On offense, the Tigers have been decent, thanks to four players averaging double figures in points. Sophomore Antonio Blakeney has been a solid guard for the Tigers, averaging 15.6 points per game on 45% shooting.
Junior forward Duop Reath has been good for LSU as well. He’s averaging 13.5 points on 54% shooting and also grabs about six rebounds per contest.
It’s been a very surprising four-game stretch for Kentucky, as the team has lost three of the four, including a horrible 22-point loss to the Florida Gators.
Nothing went right for UK in that game, as none of the starters outside of Malik Monk cracked double figures, and even Monk only had a quiet 11 points.
Kentucky has to find its footing again and starting winning these seemingly easy games. This one against the Tigers will be a statement game for Kentucky, one where the team needs to show that it’s still poised for an SEC title and deep NCAA tourney run.
Freshman Malik Monk has to get back to scoring his season average of 21.9 points. He’s been an unstoppable force for the majority of the year, but has been very quiet over the previous couple of games.
Monk shoots a very efficient 48.7% from the field and he’ll need to have a consistent shooting night on Tuesday.
Fellow freshman De’Aaron Fox will need to continue playing well also. He’s averaging 16 points per game on 47.8% shooting. Fox was the lone bright spot against Florida off the bench and he’ll look to have another good game.
CBB Betting Trends:
- LSU is 3-6 ATS in the last nine games
- Kentucky is 1-7 ATS in the last eight games
Free LSU Tigers vs. Kentucky Wildcats NCAAB Prediction:
Despte losing three of the last four, I highly doubt Kentucky will lay down for the LSU Tigers. Kentucky should bounce back with a big game and get an easy win over LSU. Kentucky gets the W at home.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: LSU ATS
Kentucky hasn’t covered the spread in seven of the last eight games. This will be a blowout, but I don’t think the Wildcats will end up winning by 24 points. I like LSU to cover here.
NCAAB Free Score Prediction: LSU 65 – Kentucky 85
