The Miami Heat and Washington Wizards tip-off for the second time in three days. Washington shocked the Heat to win the February 3rd match 103-100.
These two clubs have arguably suffered the most because of the pandemic losing core players for multiple games and having to postpone numerous games.
While they rank 14th (Wizards) and 13th (Heat) in the East it wouldn’t be surprising if either or both turned things around to nab a playoff berth.
The Heat holds the all-time record between the clubs with 88 wins in 131 meetings. Last season, the teams played four times with Miami taking three of the four regular-season meetings.
Washington Wizards
Entering Wednesday’s match the Wizards had experienced the high of the come back 149-146 win versus the Nets and low of the front side of a back-to-back loss to the Blazers.
Bradley Beal led the charge against the Heat with 32 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Russell Westbrook didn’t play as the team continues to exercise caution resting him in back-to-back games.
Washington trailed by 13 points but capitalized on the Heat going through a cold stretch in the second half in a game that featured a rarity — Wizards effective defense.
Rookie Deni Avdija scored 13 points, Rui Hachimura and Davis Bertans each chipped in with 11 and the recently signed Alex Len added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Raul Neto (groin) is out until February 7th while Thomas Bryant (knee) is lost for the season.
Miami Heat
Even with Jimmy Butler, Goran Dragic, Tyler Herro back the Heat struggled to find their offense and part of that may be tied to the club needing to get back in a rhythm.
So many members of the core have been out it’s like they are at season start all over again.
Although Miami led at the start of the third the Wizards went on a 17-5 run to bring the score to 72-73 while holding the Heat to 35 second-half points.
Jimmy Butler filled up the stat sheet with 19 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists. Bam Adebayo notched a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Tyler Herro led the scoring with 20 points while Goran Dragic chipped in with 10 points.
Avery Bradley had to leave the game with a strained calf that will keep him out until the end of the month. Gabe Vincent (knee) and Goran Dragic (knee) are game-time decisions.
Mo Harkless (thigh) and Chris Silva (hip) are out until February 7th. Meyers Leonard underwent season-ending shoulder surgery.

Free Washington Wizards vs. Miami Heat NBA Prediction:
On three occasions this season when the Heats suffered losses where they failed to score over 100 points they followed it up with a decisive win.
The problem is this iteration of the Heat hasn’t come close to resembling their typical selves.
