Orlando Magic

Orlando will play in Boston on Friday night now that the Celtics have at least eight players available in light of the coronavirus outbreak.

The Magic hasn’t played since Monday when it lost its third game in a row by a large margin.

Despite its 6–5 record, Orlando has not looked good lately since it lost Markelle Fultz for the season.

The Magic was doing okay without Jonathan Isaac, the talented first round pick from two years ago who will miss the entire season after knee surgery, and Evan Fournier, who has not been able to shake back spasms.

But now the Fultz injury has, at least for the moment, appeared to push Orlando over the edge.

Brooklyn Nets

The talk going into this game won’t center much around the Magic, if at all.

It’s going to be dominated by the Nets and their newest guard James Harden, who should be making his debut in this game.

Skeptics are abound about the Nets’ future with Kevin Durant and James Harden playing together with Kyrie Irving, if he does decide to return to basketball.

Those are three ball-dominant scorers on one team and neither of the three are particularly strong defenders.

Durant has been just terrific this season after recovering from his achilles tear that held him out all of last season. He’s averaging just shy of 30 points per game.

It’s unclear how Harden’s presence will affect Durant. Seemingly, Durant will handle the ball at the top less, though still often enough.

Will the two (and three, once Irving is in the mix) be able to develop chemistry together? Or will they simply be the sum of their individual parts? Head Coach Steve Nash has a mighty big job on his hands.
