Cavaliers vs. Pistons Gameday
For the second time in these playoffs, the Cleveland Cavaliers will play in a Game 7 as they face the Detroit Pistons to determine who will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
The teams arrived at this point following the Pistons’ routing of the Cavs 115-94 in Game 6.
Five Cavaliers scored in double figures, with James Harden leading the way with 23 points; he had eight turnovers to just four assists. Donovan Mitchell had a rough night, shooting 6 of 20 for 18 points.
Six Pistons registered double figures, led by Cade Cunningham with 21 points and eight assists (7 turnovers), while Jalen Duren finally showed up to the party with a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds, along with three blocks.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Detroit Pistons Odds & Last 5
Head-to-head this season, the teams split their four meetings, each winning twice. Cleveland has dominated in the postseason matchups, taking three of the four previous meetings, including in 2016 when they last met up.
Unlike their opponent, I think the Cavaliers didn’t benefit from going the distance in Round 1. They have the most expensive roster in the association and were playing a depleted Raptors squad that was missing their starting point guard and top scorer (for half of the series).
Detroit sewed up the top seed with ample time to spare, allowing the club to ease Cunningham back into rhythm while also taking the final few games to sit and rest their core. They were pushed to the limit in the first round, but that challenge allowed them to dig into their defensive identity and may actually help them in this series.
The Pistons are favored by 4.5 points with an over/under of 206.5 points.
Cavaliers Stats
Cleveland ranks sixth (118.3) on offense and 15th on defense (114.1). Additionally, the Cavs rank ninth in net rating (+4.1) and run the 13th quickest pace (100.70).
The East’s fourth-place Cavaliers average 28.5 assists (seventh) and 44.4 rebounds (11th). Cleveland scores 119.5 points per game while their opponents average 115.4 points.
Team leaders* for the Cavs are Donovan Mitchell for points (27.9) and steals (1.5), James Harden for assists (7.7), while Evan Mobley is tops for rebounds (9.0) and blocks (1.7).
As a team, the Cavaliers shoot 36.0% from the perimeter with six players shooting above the league average.

Pistons Stats
Detroit ranks 16th offensively (116.8), second defensively (108.7), and tied for third in net rating (+8.1) while running a pace of 100.00, which ranks 19th in the association.
The East’s top-place Pistons average 27.5 assists (13th) and 45.6 rebounds (eighth). Detroit scores 117.5 points per game while its opponents average 109.6 points.
Team leaders* in the key categories are Cade Cunningham for scoring (24.5), assists (9.9), and steals (1.5), while Jalen Duren leads rebounding (10.7), and Isaiah Stewart leads for blocks (1.6).
Perimeter scoring is a weakness for the Pistons, who shoot with an efficiency of 35.3% as a team, with four players shooting over the league average.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Detroit Pistons bottom line:
Although James Harden led his team in scoring in Game 6, he struggled, but not as badly as Donovan Mitchell. Both are notorious for struggling in close-out games, and now the pressure is all on them as the Pistons are at home with the momentum.
That said, it’s the big men who have been the x-factors in this series, with both sides struggling at times. Turnovers are also a key entering Game 7 with the spotlight on Cunningham, Harden, and Mitchell.
Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Detroit Pistons Basketball Betting Trends

- Additionally, Detroit is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games at home.
Cavaliers Pistons Free Pick: Cavaliers +4.5
Here is my Cavaliers Pistons free pick.
Detroit won all the key categories in Game 6, including field goal percentage, 3-point efficiency, rebounding, assists, steals, fast break scoring, and points in the paint.
Like most of the series, it was an ugly game, but the Pistons found their footing in the second half, along with their offense, which had been M.I.A.
As for this match, keep an eye on turnovers as the team coughing up the ball more has typically lost.
Per John Schuhmann: Live-ball turnovers were an issue in the first round, especially because Toronto seemed to turn most of them almost immediately into transition points. Now the Cavs will face the team (Detroit) that averaged 10.4 steals per 100 possessions in the regular season, the most for any team in the last 13 years.
As noted, all the pressure is on the Cavaliers with the most expensive roster in the NBA and in particular, on Harden and Mitchell, who’ve each been down this road before.
All that said, I’m taking the Cavaliers and points because I anticipate a low-scoring match.

Great breakdown ahead of the game, but what a wild finish to this series! The Cavs didn’t just win Game 7 on the road—they completely blew the doors off Little Caesars Arena with that 125-94 rout. Anyone who took Cleveland on the +4.5 spread or the moneyline cashed easily. The biggest differentiator ended up being the Cavs’ defensive adjustment on Cade Cunningham (holding him to just 13 points) and Evan Mobley controlling the interior (21 PTS, 12 REB). Now that Cleveland has knocked off the East’s top seed, how do you see them matching up against the Knicks in the Conference Finals? Does this road blowout change your perception of their ceiling?
