Quick Lane Bowl college football sees the Broncos and Wolf Pack meet at Ford Field.
The Western Michigan Broncos are favored by 7 points in this Quick Lane Bowl matchup with the Nevada Wolf Pack.
The MAC has not fared well this bowl season having 6 other teams manage a 1 – 5 record so that puts some pressure on the Broncos to snap that run of poor results. In complete opposition, the Mountain West Conference has yet to see any of their 4 representatives take a loss to this point.
The Wolf Pack will hope to stretch the MWC record to 5 – 0 this bowl season and they are the program with 8 wins coming into this affair in Detroit.
The Boston College vs. East Carolina game was canceled so that makes this the only bowl game being played on Monday. Get up early, however, because breakfast with NCAA Football is the order of the day!
Western Michigan Broncos
The Broncos will be expected to have a bit of a home-field advantage in Detroit but the Wolf Pack will surely have some fans in tow to Michigan for Christmas.
The Broncos come into this game having won 2 of their final 3 regular-season games including the convincing 42 – 21 win over NIU to close the schedule out.
Bowl season hasn’t particularly been kind to this program as they have made 10 post-season appearances and have 1 win to show for their efforts. That win came in 2015 but this team is now 0 – 3 in their last 3 bowl games under Tim Lester.
Lester has yet to bring a post-season win to the program and he never appeared in a bowl game when he played quarterback here from 96 – 99. We can assume that everyone in this program is aware of such results after missing out on bowl season altogether in 2020.
The Broncos passing defense ranks 17th holding opponents to 191.8 YPG while they also rank 29th in total yards allowed per game (338.9).
Kaleb Eleby has the Broncos ranked 15th in total yards per game (483.3 YPG) and this team also ranks 25th rushing the ball putting up 202 YPG on the ground. Eleby has an impressive 21 – 5 TD to INT ratio and his 338 yards passing against NIU helped him topple the 3,000-yard mark for the season.
Well-balanced is the best way we will describe this offense. Sean Tyler is over 1,000-yards and Ladarius Jefferson has added 836 rushing yards as the two just pound the rock.
Nevada Wolfpack
The Wolf Pack handed the reigns to Ken Wilson despite having zero head coaching experience in his career. Wilson certainly has a lengthy resume but this is his first chance to carry a program to success.
I will say that an 8-win campaign in the Mountain West looks pretty good as this team is now playing their 4th straight bowl game under Jay Norvell. Norvell was 2 – 1 in his 3 post-season appearances with the Wolf Pack but he obviously scooted town for Colorado State to start anew. (So odd that they played Colorado State to wrap up the schedule and then coach said I am switching sides after this game, LOL)
Can I say I think the way NCAA football is set up sucks? All the work it takes to bring a program together to earn a post-season game only to lose their coach because of the length of schedule under contract? Can we start to let the season end when the season ACTUALLY ENDS? Stupid!
Anyway, you know how the Military Academies love to run the ball? Yeah, this team is nothing like that and when they do run the ball we all are shocked! This Wolf Pack program ranks 4th in the nation in passing offense averaging 365.8 YPG and Carson Strong might be the next guy you see breaking some NCAA passing records. Strong is only a sophomore, officially, and after a stellar freshman season he went out and put up another fantastic campaign to follow that up.
Strong’s 4,186 yards this season gives him 9,379 passing yards for his career and he is not even done yet. Because of the 2020 season, he can go on and play two more years in Nevada which might have his former coach concerned with they play the Rams next season.
It will be interesting to see how Wilson adjusts to his new surroundings but having Carson Strong and a ton of experience on this roster will certainly help… for now.

4* Free Quick Lane Bowl NCAA Betting Final Analysis:
IF the line setters want to think that losing Jay Norvell is that devastating that the Wolf Pack can’t compete with the Broncos then I will argue with that. Give me all 7 of those points because Strong is going to throw this rock all around Ford Field on Monday.
This game was published on December 10 and it was announced on December 15 that Strong was going into the draft. I apologize for the announcement coming later than my post.
