Week 6 college football sees the Rebels and Spartans meeting at CEFCU Stadium in San Jose, CA.
The Spartans are favored by -6.5 points in this Mountain West Conference matchup, and we have a 52.5 showing on the total.
UNLV Rebels
The Rebels have taken advantage of a relatively easy non-conference schedule to go along with a pair of wins in Mountain West Conference play that has them at 4 – 1 through 5 games. UNLV has not seen the post-season since 2013, and they are now just a couple of wins away from clinching a potential bowl bid.
UNLV Head Coach Marcus Arroyo is in his third season with the Rebels program, and after an 0 – 6 2020 campaign he only managed to find 2 wins a year ago losing double-digit games at 2 – 10. Arroyo is coming home this week, because he was a former QB here in San Jose where he also started his coaching career after his playing time. Arroyo has been an undergraduate coach, a graduate coach, a quarterback coach, and he has held the co-offensive coordinator positions at San Jose State.
This is Arroyo’s first head coaching gig, and he is finally tasting some success after 2 years of some tough results. Arroyo went 0 – 6 in 2020 and 2 – 10 a season ago, so he is lucky to be given the opportunity to work his way out of the misery.
Arroyo had to make one big decision this season that would help him keep his job, and that was opting to let Doug Brumfield be his quarterback in 2022. Brumfield won the job because of his ability to add to the running game and he has done that and then some.
Brumfield has accumulated 142 rushing yards and 5 scores with his legs, and Aidan Robbins has also been a stud toting the rock. Robbins has surpassed the 500-yard mark and has been seen in the end zone 8 times on the ground with a TD catch to his credit as well.
Brumfield is completing over 70% of his tosses this year, as he and Ricky White are building stats together. White has been on the right end of 3 of Brumfield’s TD passes while grabbing 25 balls through 4 games, as he and Kyle Williams (4 TDs) are getting most of the looks in the passing game. UNLV ranks 27th averaging 37.8 PPG in 2022, and I expect that number to land about there again this weekend.

4* Free UNLV Rebels vs. San Jose State Spartans NCAA Betting Final Analysis:
I have this as a high-scoring game despite the success of the Sparty defense this season. I can see this as a game reaching into the 60s with both of them landing 30+ points so play it accordingly.
