Week 10 college football sees the Minutemen and Huskies meeting at Pratt & Whitney Stadium, which is in East Hartford, CT down the road from Storrs.
The Huskies are favored by -15.5 points in this Independent matchup, which is a conference, but is it really?
UMass Minutemen
The Minutemen are on pace to win one football game again this year, and Don Brown’s first campaign in Amherst is just as miserable as any other campaign at UMass recently. 2019 was a 1-win campaign, 2020 didn’t produce any wins and last year as just another season of falling short with 1 win to show for the year.
So, what’s next here? Down to FCS? I think it is painfully obvious that the Minutemen and football have nothing in common and being an Independent doesn’t save any grace either. Do you see what UMass has left on their schedule? They are huge underdogs this weekend and I don’t even want to venture a guess what the line will be for the Texas A&M outing.
This is the first of 3 road games which ends at A&M, and the game with Arkansas State next week will likely see them as underdogs again, even though that Sun Belt outfit is not exactly playing well themselves this year at 2 – 5.
I know you enjoyed my New Mexico State offer last weekend right here at CP, and that was not as easy as I had hoped it would be but a cashed ticket was still the result. That was almost an even line, however, and this time I have a +15.5 in my face wondering if this team can hang with my Alma Mater, UConn.
Brady Olson got the start last weekend against the Aggies, and he had a total of 97 passing yards with 1 interception to show for his efforts… Against NEW MEXICO F**KING STATE! Hey, I took the Aggies and I knew why so let’s see what happens this weekend. I don’t expect a lick of offense to aid the cause, and the line setters sure don’t either.
UConn Huskies
Well then! How about 4 wins, baby!? I went to Post University in Waterbury before I enrolled at UConn, and I am just tickled pink to see 4 wins this year. But wait, we’re not done yet and this could be win #5 after 4 years misery. Remember now, we didn’t even play football in 2020 and we had won a total of 4 games from 2018 – 2021, so this is Awesome, baby, with a capital A.
Now, this will be our last win of the year if we take this affair, because you do see who is on deck, right? Liberty is going to smack us around and that game with Army to finish the season won’t go well either. I actually have a pair of tickets for that game because I live 3 exits from West Point, so I will talk to you more about that game when it gets here. (I’ll be sure to take it so I can write that puppy up)
Jim Mora has my full support, and I am pretty sure that all of us Huskies out here are proud of the turn around to this point, even though we probably won’t have a winning season or be at a bowl game. Imagine if that would have happened?
Last week’s game was amazing to watch, shutting down BC as underdogs and holding them to 3 points? Priceless, and now we get to defend a shit UMass offense? Is 15.5 really enough, and you know I am not one to put chalk on the board very often.
