Week 6 college football sees the Huskies and Minutemen meet at Alumni Stadium.
So, do you want the good news or the bad news? Well, one of these two programs will be picking up their first win of 2021 and the other will continue to wonder if and when they will ever win another game!?
The 0 – 6 Huskies and the 0 – 5 Minutemen, baby! And to think I CHOSE THIS GAME to preview again, I know! I am a glutton because you have seen me cover all of these UConn games but hey, as long as they keep covering their spreads, we keep cashing the tickets so let’s keep it going.
Oh, you remember last weekend, right? HERE you go.
UConn +14.5 vs Vandy? Yes, oh yes they will almost win again and easily cover for us all because the Rainmaker told ya what to do!
UMass is in much worse shape than the Huskies, as the offense has simply disappeared the last two outings. With only 10 points CCU and Toledo combined the last 2 weekends, the desperate feeling in Amherst has already arrived. Will they win any game this campaign? Hey, I mentioned the good news before, they do have Maine on that schedule ahead but the Bears won’t just hibernate and sleep on UMass either!
But one thing I will not blame anyone for doing is finding another game to watch on Saturday. My goodness, these stats are going to just make you think ‘how the hell will either team win any game after this affair in Amherst.’ UConn will finish the year with Clemson, Central Florida, and Houston which uh, in case you missed it? Yeah, the Huskies will indeed be big dogs for those games it will just be a matter of by how many points?!
The Huskies are favored by 3.5 points in this Independent Conference matchup.
UConn Huskies
At least the Huskies are showing so many signs of life as the season is unfolding now that their former head coach is far in the rear-view mirror. I think many of us, despite the understanding of why he quit with such a sorry state of a program, still are shocked he took it upon himself to walk away. UConn deserved better and hopefully, they find a new man to take on the next phase of the program soon enough.
You know, being an Independent participant actually opens more doors in a sense, because you can decide who you play and where instead of a constant division rival situation. Will it make rivalries hard to stay in touch with? Sure it will a little, but IMO I see an advantage to being in this so-called Conference it is.
Now, what makes it more difficult is the school has pretty much come out and said none of you have jobs next season no matter what happens the rest of the season here in Storrs/Hartford. So, Spanos will likely be looking for another gig along with everyone else that stayed to, at least, try to keep UConn football afloat in 2021.
The players have shown they want to prove they have the fight left in them to not go winless. After seeing that effort with my own eyes last weekend against Vandy, I like what I see enough to understand why this line went from UConn -2 to -3.5 now.
The Huskies put up 523 yards outdoing Vandy by nearly a football field’s worth of yards, and they also moved the chains more often than Vanderbilt (24 – 23 1st downs)
Steven Krajewski threw for 264 of the 331 total passing yards in the loss as 9 different receivers saw the ball. Keelan Marion and Jay Rose combined to bring in 9 balls for 193 yards with Marion finding the end zone once. Rose got involved with the passing game and threw a couple of balls with 1 of them finding its way for 26 yards to his counterpart Brandon Nemenski.
Nathan Carter traveled for 124 yards on the ground from 24 carries as he and Krajewski were responsible for 165 of the 192 rushing yards on the day.
UMass Minutemen
Is it that bad? Yes, it is, unfortunately for fans that will take the seats in Amherst this weekend. We all know that the likelihood of a winning season went out the window in week 3, and the 0 – 6 they face now might just start the look towards 2022 early. UMass has a bye week next weekend though! LOL
Oh, they have to plan for Florida State and Liberty after that bye but hey… Rhode Island and Maine come to town to start November so there ya go!
Amazing to see a pair of FCS opponents and it still might even produce two wins because both of them will give UMass a fight to be honest. So, what to do, what to do?
You can see for yourself that the offensive is downright offensive in a stinky poo-poo kinda way! LoL I know, ewwww sorry for that, no offense intended.
But when your offense has produced 10 points over the last 120 minutes and then those rankings… ugh do I have to?
We have 130 FBS programs.
UMass sits 127th in total yards allowed, 123rd against the run, and the 39.7 points allowed per game has them at 125th in the nation. And that is fugly.
Brady Olson threw for 106 yards last weekend against Toledo in the 45 – 7 thrashing by the Rockets. Kayron Adams led the team in rushing… WITH 23 F**king RUSH YARDS!?!? Rico Arnold led the team with 3 receptions for 44 yards but one of those grabs was a 39-yard scamper that led to about nothing.
Oh, and uh Kayron Adams? DONE FOR THE SEASON with an ankle injury so there’s that!
My god, excuse me, I will be right back I need a towel to clean myself off. Puke! Just puke and this like of -3.5 is almost a joke! Almost because nothing is guaranteed in life but UMass is a complete mess of epic proportions and UConn better make this their game.

Free Week 6 NCAA Football Pick
Tow ugly teams, one ugly game… but we have to play the Huskies to take this by at least 7 points in a 31 – 21 type of game. Hell, it could 56 – 50 for all I care, I just expect UConn to be the team walking out of Amherst with the W.
