Toledo Rockets
The Rockets were on fire, looking great, feeling good, and then last weekend happened! Hey, a couple of easy wins were going to do nothing to prepare Toledo for Ohio State, and this team got their ass kicked against the Buckeyes last Saturday, 77 – 21.
Long Island and UMass provided comfortable wins and now this program needs to regroup as they hit the road favored by a field goal against a Mountain West foe. Apparently, the line setters expect Toledo to rebound from the harsh defeat last weekend because they’ll win this game and head home to start MAC play against Central Michgain next weekend.
DeQuan Finn will still benefit from a game like that, and the 4th year QB is starting to gain his teams’ respect as he builds up starts. Finn started 12 games last year and that 16 to 1 ratio is ridiculous! To navigate an entire season with only one interception was amazing, but now he has throw 2 through 3 games of 2022. What Finn provides with his feet is ultimately what separates him from a lot of quarterbacks in the MAC.
By the same token, Long Island and UMass made it easy to accumulate some stats, but I don’t think it takes away from how valuable Finn will be to this program in 2022. The Toledo backfield is full of dudes who want the rock in their hands, even though Finn leads the way with 208 rushing yards. Peny Boone and Jaquez Stuart are each over 100 yards in the ground game, and I expect plenty of rushes from this team again on Saturday out west.
San Diego State Aztecs
One of the more obvious reasons that Toledo is favored this weekend is that Braxton Burmeister is questionable to play for the Aztecs. Burmeister left the Utah game early and he’s probably glad he did because the Utah defense was stout and shut down everything the Aztecs had to offer last weekend. A 35 – 7 loss might not look that ugly on paper, but it is actually ugly and the stats are atrocious.
The Aztecs ran the ball for a total of 113 yards on 35 carries against Utah, and Kyle Crum came on to relieve Burmeister after he left the contest. Crum had a total of 53 yards passing while completing 5 of his 13 tosses, and I think he didn’t throw one ball longer than 5 yards.
That’s called predictability, and Toledo is undoubtedly going to stack the line and prepare to shut down the run so Crum can try to throw as many 3-yard passes as he likes. In fact, Toledo will bait him into thinking he has space so he quite literally does throw short passes all day long.
Listen, if Crum starts this game, you better piss all over Toledo at -3! PISS ALL OVER IT AND MAKE IT YOUR … Well, you know the rest, right? If your quarterback has no confidence, and the rest of the squad feels the pressure from it, they will also struggle around him so I suspect it will be a long day at Snapdragon Stadium for the home fans on Saturday.

4* Free Toledo Rockets vs. San Diego State Aztecs NCAA Betting Final Analysis:
Toledo -3! If Crum starts this football game and you don’t bet on Toledo at -3? Don’t come back here and I guess I will just have to let you envision me saying I TOLD YOU SO! Dude stinks! However, if that eye injury heals and Burmeister can go, that might change my attitude about the outcome of this game. Otherwise, I see a 32 – 16 type of game taking place so bet it accordingly!
