The Scarlet Knights travel to Columbus to face a National Championship contender in the Ohio State Buckeyes. Both teams want to get a key conference win in the Big Ten East.
The Buckeyes shouldn’t have any problems against an overmatched Rutgers team at home, but stranger things have happened.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights
Chris Laviano has had 2 straight games without an interception.
He faces a Buckeyes defense that was anything but basic against Baer Mayfield and the Sooners two weeks ago. Expect 2 interceptions and under 200 yards passing for him this week.
Robert Martin has had two straight games over 100 yards rushing.
This week he will not have the same success against a very tough front seven for Ohio State. If he can get a few big runs look for Rutgers to use play action passes to attack the secondary.
Janarion Grant had a big game against Iowa in the loss, getting 5 catches for 98 yards. He will need to make big plays down the field if Rutgers has any shot to win the game.
The Scarlet Knight defense has been up and down this year.
Looking good in a loss to Iowa last week, holding them to 14 points, but also giving up high numbers of points to New Mexico and Washington.
This week they face one of the best offenses in the nation and I look for them to give up over 45 points to a potent Buckeye team.
#2 Ohio State Buckeyes
JT Barrett took the Buckeyes into Norman, Oklahoma and came away with a season defining victory. He was 14 of 20 for only 152 yards, but had 4 touchdown passes.
He also contributed 74 yards on the ground. Look for him to have another 4 touchdowns this week and at least 50 yards on the ground.
Sophomore running back Mike Weber continues to show he will be the key to Ohio State’s running game this season.
He had 123 yards rushing on only 18 carries against a tough Sooner defensive line. Look for him to have an even bigger day against Rutgers defense.
Curtis Samuel is the Ohio State version of Percy Marvin, with the speed to make plays running the ball and catching it. He will have over 200 total yards this week as no one on the Rutgers defense has the speed to keep up with him.
Noah Brown won’t grab another 4 touchdown passes but he should reach the end zone again this week.
The Ohio State defense forced Baker Mayfield into 2 interceptions in week 3. They were also able to shut down the excellent two headed monster in OH’s backfield.
This week the defense should have another strong showing against a lesser talented team.

Free Week 5 NCAA Football Prediction
JT Barrett and the Buckeyes start off slow, but make adjustments in the second quarter to break the game wide open. This one is lopsided throughout.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Buckeyes ATS
Samuel gets two sores, and the running game pounds the ball against the Rutgers front 7 all day long.
