The New Mexico State Aggies visit the Sam Houston Bearkats on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium in Huntsville. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 PM ET on ESPN2. Both programs are trying to improve their position in Conference USA.
New Mexico State enters 2-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Aggies are winless in three road games, and their last outing exposed serious problems finishing drives.
That makes this trip an important test.
Neither team has much room for another mistake, and Wednesday’s loser faces an even tougher climb.
Sam Houston is 1-5 overall and 0-2 in CUSA action. The Bearkats have lost three consecutive games and are searching for their first conference victory. Their only win came against Nicholls State.
New Mexico State leads the all-time series 2-1, although the home team has won every meeting. Sam Houston gets another opportunity to defend its home field.

I’m backing the team with the better chance to dictate the game, not the one waiting for a mistake.
