The Armed Forces Bowl sees the Tigers and Black Knights meet at Amon G. Carter Stadium on Wednesday night at 8 p.m ET.
The Black Knights are favored by 4 points over the Tigers in this year’s Armed Forces Bowl although Army was only 5 – 7 covering the line this season.
Missouri is making their 4th bowl appearance in the last 5 seasons with the 2019 campaign being responsible for their only absence (Well, kinda). The Tigers were scheduled to play in the Music City Bowl a year ago but their game with Iowa was eventually canceled so they did not actually get to play the game but did earn the right to
Similarly, Army will be making their 5th bowl showing in the last 6 years as 2019 was also the year they were not present in the post-season. The Black Knights did get their bowl game in a year ago albeit a 24 – 21 loss to West Virginia at the Liberty Bowl.
The Black Knights are coming off a disappointing final regular-season game that was a loss against Navy although they will retain the Commander-In-Chief trophy for another year.
Missouri Tigers
The Tigers covered 7 of their 12 games in 2021 but they too come into bowl season on the heels of a losing effort. Missouri lost 34 – 17 to Arkansas to be left at 6 – 6 and that is how they got left with a game against Army in Fort Worth.
This team has invented how to be a .500 program because they have finished 4 of the last 5 years with an even record. 2017 produced a 6 – 6 campaign with an eventual loss in the Texas Bowl, the 2019 season left Missouri at 6 – 6 and out of bowl season and this Tigers squad was 5 – 5 a year ago.
Now, at 6 – 6, Eliah Drinkwitz is exactly 11 – 11 through 2 years in charge of the Tigers program and hopefully, they won’t have this year’s game PPD as it was a year ago. The Omicron variant is certainly having an impact on sports in the United States but we will hope they get the games in regardless.
We try to not use the word defense and the Tigers in the same sentence if we can help it. Missouri ranks 124th out of 130 programs allowing 229.3 rushing yards a game and that is a large reason why the Tigers allow just under 35 PPG.
Tyler Badie leads the 49th ranked rushing offense in the country that averages 179.9 YPG and he has contributed 1,604 of those yards with 14 scoots to the end zone. Badie has carried the ball 268 times this season and the second leading rusher on this team only has 150 yards to his credit.
Michael Cox only has 18 carries but Elijah Young is likely out for this game as he has 24 carries for a whole 87 yards in 2021. Badie or bust, let’s just call it what it is because how he goes is how this team will go in the Armed Forces Bowl.
Army Black Knights
Army had a chance to take out Navy and make a statement coming into bowl season but they flopped against the Academy. The Black Knights will still hold on to the Commander-In-Chief trophy but that is simply by default because no one actually won it in 2021.
Now, this team needs to pick up the pieces from that loss and figure out a way to come together for an SEC opponent… favored, no less.
What is Army going to do? Well, do you need to work at NASA as a Space Scientist to know that the plan is to run the ball early, often, late and repeat that process until something good happens.
We all saw the Academies start to throw the ball around a little this year but Army is just not cut out for the passing game.
Christian Anderson only completed 28 passes this year but he did manage to put up a 5 – 0 TD to INT ratio which is all right. Anderson is a big reason why this Army program puts up 286.9 rushing yards a game that has them ranked #2 in the land in the ground assault.
Anderson has carried the ball exactly 100 times for 586 yards and Tyrell Robinson is right there with him. Robinson has 66 rushes for 603 yards and then Jakob Buchanon must be dealt with. Buchanon has seen the end zone 11 times on the ground and he has 114 carries of his own.
QB Tyhier Tylor also had triple-digit carries this year actually leading the team with 122 totes for 478 yards to go with 7 TD dashes.

4* Free Armed Forces Bowl NCAA Football Betting Final Analysis:
The Total has been a nice way to go thus far through bowl season and I like this 57 to get toppled here as well. Mizzou and defense just don’t ring my bell so I expect a game in the 30s to take place.
