Week 11 college football sees the Canes and Noles meet at Doak Walker Stadium.
The Hurricanes are favored by 2.5 points in this ACC matchup and the 6th win in 2021 would, at least, see the potential for a bowl invitation. On the other hand, the Seminoles are the exact 3 – 6 they were a season ago as Mike Norvell has yet to prove he can get big wins for the Noles in his second year at Florida State.
The Noles are still counting on the resurgence of McKenzie Milton but that has simply been a bust thus far. Florida State was completely shut out in the first half against N.C State last weekend and the offense simply has no strengths to rely on while the defense gets no support.
I personally find it amazing we are only being asked to lay a field goal of chalk to expect Miami to find a win here. Maybe there is something we are not seeing but we know we are not seeing anything from Florida State to convince us otherwise.
Miami Hurricanes
The Hurricanes have won their last 3 games including that impressive win over Pitt and yet here they are barely favored to beat the Noles? I know I am old enough to remember when this game was the one to watch every season because of how much it meant to the ACC and who might or might not be appearing in the conference championship game… again!
I am sorry but this preview will only lead you in one direction and I don’t mean the band out of the UK either! (I think they are from the UK, don’t quote me on that) Miami has the momentum and enough defensive talent to continue to make McKenzie Milton struggle with his return to NCAA football.
Miami may be only 5 – 4 on paper and nope, they won’t likely be appearing as division winners either but there is a small chance it could happen. Miami lost to Virginia but they did beat Pitt and anything can happen down the stretch. The Hurricanes will need some things to happen for them but if they win out they can somehow represent the Coastal Division in the ACC title game. Pitt and Virginia play each other next weekend so that will be one the Canes will be watching intensely while they face Virginia Tech in their final home game.
Tyler Van Dyke has a 10 – 1 TD to INT ratio over his last 3 games, which have all resulted in wins for the Canes. He only got taken to the ground once last weekend in the 33 – 30 win over GA Tech and someone needs to call 911!! The combo of 9 to 11 was good for 210 passing yards as Charleton Rambo had a monster day catching the ball.
Florida State Seminoles
Yes, this line is set up for us nicely and a field goal is all it will take to cover our tickets on the Canes at -2.5. What is that? Are the line setters unaware of how bad McKenzie Milton is at this point in his career? Just put up 3 drives of film and you can see that he looks small, he is not playing Conference USA shit anymore, and he looks overmatched every time he gets back in the pocket.
When you are 22 of 44 putting up 233 yards constantly? And it is constantly because that is about what we have always seen from him the entire year. HE has 3 TD passes and 3 INTs and has accumulated 781 passing yards and guess how many times he has seen the end zone with these legs?
Anyone? Crickets? You hear them too, right? Remember how he used those same legs to torch opposing defenders? We all know the injury was devastating and he certainly deserves hella-props for having the fortitude to want to play again at all. By the same token, the production simply isn’t there at the college level and he certainly will not even be looked at by an NFL team ever in his life.
So, what is the plan for Mike Norvell because if this is as good as it gets he won’t be around much longer himself? This is not the Miami Florida State rivalry it once was and Miami is about to walk in here and hand the Noels their ass in a platter!
Sugarcoat that!! Not to mention all of the injuries mounting up on the defensive side of the ball, oh wait, I just mentioned it.
