Week 9 college football sees the Ragin’ Cajuns and Golden Eagles meeting at M. M. Roberts Stadium Hattiesburg, Mississippi, for a Thursday night showdown.
This game is listed as a pick ’em for this Sun Belt Conference matchup, and the line setters are expecting a low-scoring game listing the total at only 43.
Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns
The Cajuns were listed as the early favorites when I caught the line on Sunday, and now we have a little bit of a reversal. This line has fallen to a pick ’em so it’s Cajuns or Eagles and a coin-flip decision now.
Why the line move? Well, I am not sure but maybe it’s because Louisiana is expecting Chandler Fields to come back? Is that actually hurting the Cajuns’ chances to win the game? I don’t even know why Head Coach Michael Desormeaux would change the dynamic for this offense right now.
Chandler Fields has missed the last two games, and that has given Ben Wooldridge the opportunity to stay on the field and not share any responsibilities. The two qbs were sharing time all season up until Fields got hurt, and if I am a first-year head coach, I am not messing with a 2-game win streak and a confident offense.
So, I am going to expect that Wooldridge will see more snaps anyway fter these last two wins have proven that he can handle running the show. Wooldridge has thrown 10 TD passes and a single pick against his ledger looks pretty good too.
The big reason for the line move is the two injuries in the offensive backfield, because both of the top-2 rushers for Louisiana will be out of this game. Chris Smith is questionable to go and that takes a team-leading 261 rushing yards off the table. Terrence Williams is done for the year, and that now means that Jacob Kibodi, and his 37 rushes for 169 yards will be asked to carry the load on Thursday.
Dre-Lyn Washington has 36 carries so he will come in and tote the rock to relieve Kibodi, and we know that whichever QB plays they will both add something to the fray with their dual-threat ability.
Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles
Southern Miss has won 4 of their last 5 games, and 3 of those results came down to the final possession of the game.
Frank Gore Jr. is the featured back in the offense, and his 568 yards with 4 scoots to the end zone better both be numbers that go up dramatically on Thursday if Southern Miss has any chance to win this game.
Can I say I am totally lost as to who out there thinks Southern Miss can win this football game, so if you are considered the betting public? Change your thinking!
The running game issue for Louisiana is what it is, but the Southern Miss offense is terrible, like so bad I can smell it from New York. The 25 points per game ranks this team 93rd in the Nation, but that’s just paperwork. The QB situation is a major issue for this program, because no one has proven they can be the guy to lead the way and about 10 people have been given chances.
Golden Eagles Head Coach Will Hall has seen 4 different dudes take snaps under center, and that’s because Zack Wiicke has one problem he can’t seem to fix. Well, it’s actually 8 problems that he’s caused, because when you have 7 TD passes and 8 interceptions, that kinda tells you what you need to know. Throwing the ball to the wrong team that often has caused Coach Hall fits trying to figure out who has he on the roster to move the offense and keep them on the field.
Frank Gore is great for that because he can run the ball with some success, and keep the clock moving leaving the other team’s offense off of the field. I don’t think he will be enough to keep Southern Miss in this game, so whoever is moving this out there pounding Southern Miss to win? THANKS!

4* Free Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns vs. Southern Miss Golden Eagles NCAA Betting Final Analysis:
We have the Cajuns because both defenses cancel each other out and they are both pretty damn good. I wanted to take this total to go over because the 43 is so low, but I can’t fade Louisiana in this spot. I don’t trust Southern Miss to make me my money, so I fade them.
