Week 7 college football sees the Flames and Warhawks meet at Malone Stadium.
Well, if the line setters haven’t made it clear enough who they expect to win then you need to learn how to read the lines. When you are favored by nearly 5 TDs the writing is usually on the wall and the fat lady will be dressed for the occasion.
So, the goal for the Flames is to simply navigate their way to another win because they ultimately don’t care how many points they should win by. A W is a W no matter if it is a bloodbath or a squeaker and coach Freeze is certainly aware of what is at stake.
Eligibility for a bowl game is usually everyone’s first goal because it is the earliest accomplishment you can basically have to judge your season. No one can win or lose a conference title or secure anything in week 7 of the NCAA football season other than getting in a position to land in a bowl game.
The Warhawks have gotten pow-wowed the last games losing by a combined 114 – 27 to CCU and GA State. Amazingly, this team took down Troy to start Sun Belt Conference play so this team needs to find that energy again or the rest of the campaign could go further South.
The Flames are heavily favored by 32.5 points in this Independent vs. Sun Belt Conference matchup.
Liberty Flames
Malik Willis is putting together a Heisman watch party and you can see him every Saturday doing something big to help this team win games. Willis leads this team in rushing, passing, and handing out Gatorade too! You name it, he can do it and if he could throw a pass to himself he probably would.
His 1327 passing yards look great but we do have a little concern with the offensive line. Willis has been sacked 18 times this year, but that also has to do with him stretching out runs and simply behind tackled behind the line of scrimmage. So, it isn’t all sunshine and rainbows but it looks pretty good overall.
Willis will topple the 500-yard mark in rushing on top of the passing stats and his 7 scores give him 20 combined with his legs and arm. Stupid good!
Joshua Mack, T.J Green, and Shedro Louis are all just as pivotal in the success of the ground game as they have all combined for 146 attempts with 650 yards and another 5 TDs.
Honestly, the craziest stat I see is the 14.7 yards per reception as a team with 7 different dudes making a trip to paydirt. Demario Douglas is the go-to for Willis with 33 grabs for 526 yards and 4 of those scores but he is just one of many that Malik relies on to get points on the board.
UL Monroe Warhawks
Obviously, losing Rhett Rodriguez the way this team had to go through it is tough, so picking up the pieces is the goal from here on out. We can surmise that Rodriguez will likely not be back this season if at all after collapsing a lung and ending up in the ICU as he did. (Prayers out to him and his family, that is tough stuff)
So, Chandler Rogers has the reigns and he may be considered a mobile QB but it doesn’t mean he can lead this offense to any great heights. Rogers has started the last two games and as you just saw me say they have both been disastrous losses. Coastal kicked this team in the ass 59- 6 two weekends ago and Georgia State laid a whoopin’ on them too, 55 – 21.
Hey, Monroe had a 7 – 0 early lead though! Yeah, that went to shit as the Panthers scored the next 35 points and never looked back at the Warhawks.
Monroe did a great job on converting 4th downs going 3 for 4 but they were only 3 of 14 moving the chains on 3rd down. It got bad enough to bring in Colby Suits who looked just as confused running the offense completing 4 balls to his own team and another one to the wrong team.
If you need some justification from the stats, I get to say my favorite line again. There are 130 FBS programs, right?
The Warhawks put up 238 total yards a game and that means we are talking about team #130 in that category. This team is scoring 15.6 PPG a game which leaves them ranked 127th and the 85.6 yards on the ground per outing leaves this rushing offense at 125th.
The defense also ranks 125th against the pass allowing 303.4 YPG while allowing over 36 PPG. Not a great combination if you hadn’t heard yet.

It can get concerning with lines like this so high because any score from the Warhawks pushes that line out even further, Should UL Monroe score first the chalk bettors will need to see Liberty break off the next 40 points to cover the line.
Can they do it? Well shit, man, Monroe is a defensive disaster of epic proportions so sure it could happen. Keep in mind that Liberty will have bigger fish to fry up the road and they don’t need to score 85 points to embarrass anyone here.
4* Free Week 7 NCAA Betting Pick:
This might come as a surprise but I see this Over rolling in. Needing at least 57 points means that we would need Liberty to basically score all day and on most of their possessions… Okay, and?
We just saw both CCU and GA State do that blindfolded so Liberty should be looking to put this game away early and will just cruise to a 49 – 13 win.
