LA Tech Bulldogs
The Skip Holtz era is over and in comes Sonnie Cumbie after only coaching for 5 games with Texas Tech a season ago, so this could be interesting. Cumbie was the offensive coordinator at TCU until arriving in Texas Tech, and after leading the Red Raiders to a bowl win he thought it would be a good idea to test the water and see if he could stay in charge of a program after getting a taste of it last year.
Apparently, there is chatter that the air-raid offense is coming to Ruston, LA, and Cumbie has brought in his former QB at TCU Matt Downing Jr. to take the reigns and move the chains. Downing doesn’t have a lick of experience to rely on so we honestly have no idea what we’ll be getting with LA Tech in 2022.
The Bulldogs lost their top running back which is another reason that Cumbie wants to change the dynamic for his new program. LSU transfer Devonta Lee is hoping to add his pass-catching ability to the mix while Tre and Smoke Harris will certainly be seen catching balls all year long.
Scott Power is taking over as the defensive coordinator and ironically, he will get to play his former team next weekend when LA Tech hosts Stephen F. Austin. Power was the DC with the Lumberjacks for the last 3 campaigns, and he has 8 returning starters to work with, but apparently he is changing up the entire system. That might take some time to adjust, but after a 3 – 9 record a season ago what’s the worst that could happen?
Missouri Tigers
Tigers Head Coach Eliah Drinkwitz has lead Mizzouri to a 5 – 5 record and a 6 – 6 record from his two years in charge at Columbia. A bowl loss to finish last season against Army, 24 – 22, Drinkwitz has decided to let Brady Cook take over as the starting QB for the Tigers this year, and oh, what a long process it has been for him.
Cook signed with Missouri in 2018 and is just now getting where he hoped he would be years ago. He’ll take it, and he finally has the job to move the offense and start the year making an impression with the fans again. Drinkwitz did everything he could to find a quarterback in the transfer window, but nothing came to fruition so he now has to settle on the incumbent option.
Now, settling doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing, but he certainly has a lot to prove and being favored by almost 3 touchdowns works in his favour. We can imagine he knows that the Tigers are being chalked at a generous line in Las Vegas, but that also adds just as much pressure to the team.
Do you know anything about why underdogs come out and upset teams? When someone tells you that you have no chance to win today, how hard are you going to fight to prove otherwise? Lay down and take it or get up and punch back? Duh!
So, this is not as easy as the line setters are making it out to be, in my opinion.

4* Free LA Tech Bulldogs vs. Missouri Tigers NCAA Betting Final Analysis:
I think seeing 19.5 points with LA Tech is lovely and I say yes to that. Missouri has as much to prove as LA Tech does with new quarterbacks, coaches who still have to prove themselves as well, and two teams with no idea who they are.
