Kent State Golden Flashes
The Golden Flashes rushing offense has been the strength of this year’s team, and if there is one thing no one can accuse 5th-year head coach Sean Lewis of doing is scheduling a weak non-conference schedule. The Flashes have endured meetings with Washington, Oklahoma, and Georgia although the 3 outings account for the 3 losses.
Moral victories are all well and good, but most coaches schedule these tough games to prepare for conference play while instilling some toughness into the program.
Coach Lewis has gotten his team to a bowl game twice in his 4 seasons here, and he was not left with a lot of talent from last year’s 7 – 7 team that lost their bowl game to Wyoming, 52 – 38.
Collin Schlee helped Kent State secure an overtime win last weekend over Ohio, as he broke out for nearly 400 passing yards completing 24 of his 37 attempts on the day. Schlee is worth the price of admission as he can do so much in this offense with his arm, his legs, and he has no problem trying to make the tough throws even if they do end up in the wrong hands.
Schlee has thrown 5 TD passes but he has also completed 3 balls to the wrong team as well. Regardless, the 256 yards rushing aiding Marquez Cooper in the backfield makes this offense tough to defend. Cooper is over 500 yards already and he has been seen in the end zone 5 times while adding to the passing game. A good back needs to be versatile and Cooper has 3 grabs for 62 yards averaging over 20 yards a pop.
Miami RedHawks
The RedHawks passing offense has left plenty to be desired, as they rank 123rd passing but yet run the ball with some success putting up 170.8 YPG. That number is good enough to appear 55th in the rankings in rushing, but this team only puts up less than 20 PPG.
RedHawks Head Coach Chuck Martin is in year 9 in Oxford, and he’ll have to hope that Aveon Smith can run the offense all season now that Brett Gabbert is done for the year. Gabbert barely made it out of the gate before going down to an injury, so the team now has to rely on Smith’s ability to lead the way.
Smith is certainly a work-in-progress, and the 3 interceptions along with a 50% completion percentage tell us he has a lot of room for improvement. Max Hippenhammer, who by the way has an awesome name, is receiving the lion’s share of balls from Smith, but that also makes him easier to guard.
If Smith is not going to spread the ball out, it makes him easy to read and that could lead to more issues this weekend.

4* Free Kent State Golden Flashes vs. Miami RedHawks NCAA Betting Final Analysis:
I suspect that Kent State should be able to come away with the win, and I am jumping on the -3 1st Half line. The Flashes should be able to navigate their way to a 3-point halftime lead, at least, so that’s my offer!
