Week 1 college football sees the Illini and Hoosiers meeting at Memorial Stadium on Friday night.
The Hoosiers are favored by -3 points in this Big Ten Conference matchup, and we have a 46.5 showing on the total.
Illinois Fighting Illini
The Illini already have a win under the belts after taking a win over Wyoming this past weekend, 38 – 6. Tommy DeVito packed his bags and booted from Syracuse to have a chance to take over a Big Ten program and he looked pretty good to open the campaign.
Devito ended the season-opener 27 for 37 with 194 passing yards tossing a pair of TD strikes with no picks against his ledger. It may not seem like the most prolific day of his career, but wins are wins and they feel good when they come.
It will be interesting to see how Devito does when the big portion of the Big Ten schedule kicks in, as this team will have to deal with Michigan, Wisconsin, and Michigan State as well as Iowa so there will be some challenges ahead.
For me? Getting a field goal in this spot is fine by me because I am a Syracuse fan and I will be rooting for that dude all season despite him leaving.
Anyway, Chase Brown carried the rock 19 times and totaled 151 rushing yards while he found the end zone on two occasions to add to the scoring. Brown also caught 3 balls and 1 of those resulted in a trip to pay dirt so if anyone had the big day to open the campaign it was him.
Brown was a 3rd-Team Big Ten honoree and he quietly went over the 1,000 yard mark in his sophomore campaign and wants to do even better in 2022. I’d say the 151 yards on the ground and 3 scoots for points has him in good spirits entering this Friday night Big Ten tilt.
Indiana Hoosiers
It’s funny, I just covered the Missouri game here at CP, and now I get to discuss Connor Bazelak who left Mizzou for greener pastures in the transfer portal. Well, we are just days away from the start of this contest and Hoosiers Head Coach Tom Allen has yet to declare his starting QB.
Jack Tuttle got to play the role a bit last season but Bazelak transferred here expecting to see playing time. In addition to that Dexter Williams II is back from a torn ACL. Williams is arguable the most athletic QB in camp, and among the team they know who is starting, it’s just us media folk who are being left in the clouds wondering who will be under center on Friday night.
Allen has posted socially that the decision was made after the second spring practice, so anyone with inside knowledge who has been around camp knows who is starting as well.
I will go on the limb and say that I believe Bazelak will be given the opportunity to prove his worth after two years of playing in the SEC. Last I checked, the SEC is no cupcake conference and any experience among that level of talent is positive.

4* Free Illinois Fighting Illini vs. Indiana Hoosiers NCAA Betting Final Analysis:
I think we are just barely going to sneak in this Over. The 46.5 is right where I like it when I can foresee a 27 – 24 type of game breaking out. I see 50+ coming our way, although not by much but enough to cash the ticket. Close only counts in horse shoes and hitting bets by a half-point if need be! You can give me that field goal if you like as well because Illinois might just take this W outright instead!
