Week 6 college football sees the Cougars and Green Wave meet at Yulman Stadium.
The Houston Cougars will be looking for their 5th consecutive win of the season as favorites on the road when they take on Tulane on Thursday night. What opened as a 4.5 point line has jumped to 6 towards the Cougs with the public likely wondering why this line is so low?
I feel you!!
What the hell are the line setters thinking leaving us this much room on a play towards the Cougs to take a victory by a single touchdown?
Houston will also be looking for their third straight win over Tulane, although they did not meet in 2020 due to Covid-19.
The Wave have secured one win on the season and it came against that feared Morgan State program in FCS <<< Sarcasm, thank you!
Tulane was favored by a field goal last weekend against ECU but got absolutely whacked by the Pirates, 52 – 29. Starting QB Michael Pratt found himself completing 3 balls to the wrong team and the Wave was down 31 – 7 at the half which they obviously never recovered from.
Before you finish reading this? Just go piss on Houston before the line moves any further because 6 points are better than 7. This line might continue moving as we get closer to kickoff on Thursday night.
The Cougars are favored by 6 points in this American Athletic Conference matchup.
Houston Cougars
I don’t know if the Cougars care that they are only favored by less than a TD on Thursday, but all of us out here see this as a gift line. I am sorry, and I am not one to just come out and say we need to be doubling up on this action, but when I do I drink Dos Equis! LoL
Houston’s schedule is GORGEOUS! Have you seen who they have on deck after not only this game but what is to come in the regular season?
So, let’s talk about that because you all know the stats and can find that shit anywhere. Bye week next weekend. Homecoming against ECU the following weekend with trips to South Florida, Temple, and UConn in the mix… Gorgeous!
If you listened to my team totals video I put up on my YouTube channel, you heard me tell you to take that Houston Over 8.5 wins in 2021. SMU and possibly Memphis could provide an upset of the Cougars, but this will be a 9-win campaign without doubt IMO.
Now, back to the games.
Freshman tailback Alton McCaskill had himself a day last weekend with 3 trips to the end zone in the first half alone. McCaskill only carried the ball 17 times for 77 yards, but he wasn’t asked to do much in the second half and the entire team saw the field. Chandler Smith and Mulbah Car basically carried the load from there and between them as they totaled 11 carries for 39 yards while no one really had a big day.
Overall, if you look at the box score from the 45 – 10 over Tulsa last weekend, even starting QB Clayton Tune didn’t produce much. Tune was only 17 for 24 with 241 yards, 2 TD, and one pick on the day.
The Cougars’ defense basically made Tulsa’s QB, Davis Brin, look all out of sorts as he threw 3 picks and fumbled twice as well. I think the defensive stats tell the story of the season so far tbh.
Houston ranks 4th in total yards allowed (255.8), 6th in passing yards allowed (144.4), and 10th overall only allowing 15 PPG. Let’s go on a limb and say that the best unit we will see on this field will be the Houston defense and now we move on.
Tulane Green Wave
Tulane is already down a game in American Conference play and obviously, I don’t like their chances to find a win in this spot either. Maybe you see it differently but what is your defense?
Tulane ranks 80th in rushing yards and out of 130 FBS programs they are 129th turning over the ball (7 turnovers). Considering the Houston defense ranks 6th in the land creating turnovers there is plenty of reason for concern!
Can we use the words defense and Tulane in the same sentence without being arrested in 16 States? Won’t be me, man! Them stats be fugly!
Again, we have 130 FBS programs, kids. Tulane doesn’t rank higher than 112th in any stat on that side of the ball (Notice I did not use the word D… LoL)
This team is about to get whacked and the Cougars will have a field day with this offense. Michale Pratt isn’t really having a terrible campaign, but obviously, the 5 INTs to go with too many fumbles is a concern. Pratt’s ability to escape the pocket and provide some juice helps a bit but he needs to work on controlling the ball.
Tailback Cameron Carroll had done reasonably well with 42 carries for just over 200 yards and in all honesty, the stats all around this team show some support. Carroll is great out of the backfield too so expect to see plenty of his efforts trying to weaken the Cougs defense.
Pratt has already used 13 different receivers and he certainly enjoys his tight-end Tyrik James. James leads the squad with 19 grabs for 2 scores and 289 yards while 4 other players average double-digit grabs and 9 different receivers have caught TD passes.

Free Week 6 NCAA Football Pick
Houston -6 is your first play and this total is down from 61 to 59.5. That is obviously, because of Houston’s defense but I digress. I still see points coming here and it is not like Houston has played this amazing schedule either. Sure, on paper they look amazing, but Texas Tech certainly showed us more about how to get past Houston’s defense. Wins over Navy, Tulsa, Rice, and Grambling? Come on man!
4* Free Week 6 NCAA Betting Pick:
Houston’s schedule will help them all season, but this is the most cupcake slate of games I think I have seen in years. So, of course, they should be ranked high in everything and they are. With that said, I like Houston to win 44 – 31 so expect those points to come. Let’s make it a daily double!
