So, do you know those games you take to preview for a certain reason? Yeah, hi, my name is Ej the f**king Rainmaker and you are smashing this total to pieces on Saturday because I said so!
Hmm hmm, it’s like that this weekend, kids! I only grabbed this game because well, for 3 reasons
#1… It was still on the board and someone needed to do it, and…
#2… I wanted to recommend this total to every reader on the site. It is not very often I just want to talk about my own expectations, but do you know me yet? Keep reading and you will learn more about me and how I plan on helping you ass make a buck or two this weekend and…
#3… So we can THINK DOG, BABY!
These two offenses are firing off at a high level and no one should use the word defense and East Carolina in the same sentence. Doh! Shit, I just did it, I know, sorry!
Points, baby! Expect the points to come in this matchup in Orlando with UCF needed to bounce back from one of their worst losses in years last weekend.
The Team are favored by in this American Athletic Conference matchup.
ECU Pirates
The Pirates are the team that has opened American Athletic Conference play at 1 – 0 after taking down Tulane, 52 – 29, last weekend. A ruckus homecoming crowd at Dowdy Ficklen Stadium provided the boost the Pirates needed to gain a balanced 612 total yards. With 302 yards through the air and 310 on the ground, the entire offense did their part to ensure the home crowd celebration would ensue.
Starting QB Holton Ahlers threw for 288 of those yards and freshman backup QB Mason Garcia got a chance to convert a 14-yard scoring strike from his only pass attempt in the game. I suggest you keep an eye on Garcia towards the future of this program as his big frame and a strong arm are something any OC would/should love to work with on a long-term basis. This is my futures prospect call o the day, okay!
For now, obviously, Ahlers is the man for the job barring any kind of absence, which we certainly do not want to see happen. We have seen enough of that over on the UCF side when #10 took that knee injury who is over trying to compete for Florida State right now (Mr. Milton, of course).
Anyway, the weakest link on this football field will be this ECU defense, however. As you can plainly see in the rankings the Pirates are sitting at 126th out of 130 FBS teams against the opponent passing game allowing 318.2 ypg through the air.
Keep an eye out for #25 out of the ECU backfield, because the dude is going to run and run hard. Keaton Mitchell is at 60 rushes for 574 yards and 4 scores and I expect all of those numbers to inflate after this one’s said and done. Oh, you don’t like Mitchell? Okay, how about a dose of Rahjai Harris who has contributed 219 yards on 63 carries for a pair of scores himself. Oh, you just watch the two of them used in the air attack too because they both just want the damn ball!!
UCF Knights
UCF 30 – Navy 17 going to the 4th quarter so all the Knights need to do to get to 3 – 1 is maintain the lead and hold on to an apparent nice win they’ve had lined up all day long against the Naval Academy. OR…
A natural disaster happened next and the boys in blue tore down the UCF defense for 17 4th quarter points to win 34 – 30 instead! So, 2 – 2 it is and it is obvious that this team needs to rebound because Cincinnati is on deck next weekend too.
The Knights are putting up 41 PPG and you are damn right that is good enough to see them ranked in the top-10 in all the land (8th). Now the big problem at hand… Mr. Dillon Gabriel is now a bystander and he will be watching the game like the rest of us.
Another bad injury for a starting QB in Orlando is upon us and Mikey Keane is apparently going to be asked to keep this train a movin’!
He did an admiral job against Navy and hell, he should have played defense too because they might have won the game!
I personally cannot believe that this team is favored by double-digits without their starting QB, so the fade might be on here.
