Colorado State Rams vs. Utah State Aggies Odds & Previous Games
Utah State is favored at -234 on the moneyline, with Colorado State returning +193. The Aggies are laying 6.5 points, and the supplied total is 63.5.
The spread gives Utah State considerable respect despite its losing record. Colorado State’s defensive problems help explain why the Aggies are favored.
The Rams previously lost 66-27 to Texas State, 56-26 to Oregon State, 59-45 to UTSA and 41-23 to BYU. Those defeats exposed serious problems containing opposing offenses.
Utah State beat Washington State 17-16 and Troy 21-10 earlier in the season. The Aggies also lost 37-18 to Boise State and were shut out 33-0 by Utah.
Colorado State rallied from 29 points down in the fourth quarter to beat Utah State 42-37 in their 2024 meeting. It was a remarkable comeback that ended the Aggies’ 5-game winning streak in the series.

Aggies Stats
Utah State has scored 104 points through 7 games, averaging 14.9 PPG. The Aggies have produced 1,351 passing yards and 796 rushing yards, with neither unit finding much consistency.
Javen Jacobs leads the rushing attack with 435 yards and 2 TDs. His production has been important for a team that needs to establish possession.
Eli Wood has caught 37 passes for 479 yards and 5 TDs. He’s been the Aggies’ most dependable receiving threat this season.
Utah State’s defense has given the offense chances, but somebody still has to finish the job.
The Aggies have allowed 161 points this season. Their defensive front has registered 15 sacks, helping disrupt opposing passing attacks.
Utah State has intercepted 3 passes and recovered 4 fumbles. Creating turnovers has helped compensate for stretches when the offense has struggled.
Against Texas State, the Aggies held the Bobcats to 248 total yards. That was an encouraging defensive performance despite the loss.
Wood’s availability remains uncertain heading into Saturday. His absence would leave Utah State needing additional production from Anthony Garcia and the rest of its receivers.
Rams Stats
Colorado State has scored 270 points through 7 games, averaging 38.6 PPG. The Rams have accumulated 1,981 passing yards and 1,254 rushing yards.
Mel Brown leads the ground game with 454 rushing yards and 3 TDs. Durell Robinson has contributed 383 yards and 8 TDs, providing another productive option.
Tommy Maher has emerged as an important part of the passing attack. His contributions have helped Colorado State maintain offensive production despite changes at QB.
Defensively, the Rams have surrendered 308 points, an average of 44.0 PPG. Opponents have repeatedly found ways to create explosive plays against Colorado State.
The Rams have intercepted 9 passes and recovered 5 fumbles. Those takeaways have been valuable, although they haven’t solved the team’s broader defensive problems.
Juice Vereen remains unavailable, and Colorado State has dealt with other injuries across its roster. Maintaining depth has been a challenge during the losing stretch.
Colorado State generated 549 total yards against San Diego State. The offense was productive throughout, but the Rams still needed a late stop to secure the win.
Rams vs. Aggies QB Matchup
Grady Brosterhous is listed atop Utah State’s QB depth chart. He has thrown for 1,120 yards, 7 TDs and 6 interceptions this season.
Brosterhous has attempted 178 passes in 7 appearances. His ability to avoid turnovers will be important against a Colorado State defense that has created takeaways.
McCae Hillstead provides another option for the Aggies. He’s thrown for 225 yards, 2 TDs and 4 interceptions in limited action.
Utah State needs better efficiency from its passing game regardless of who takes the snaps. Sustaining drives has been a persistent problem for the offense.
Colorado State is expected to start Hauss Hejny after his return against San Diego State. He has completed 71 of 104 passes for 952 yards, 13 TDs and 2 interceptions.
Hejny’s ability to create explosive plays gives the Rams another dimension. His mobility also makes him dangerous when passing plays break down.
K’saan Farrar has passed for 931 yards, 5 TDs and 2 interceptions in 5 appearances. He provides experienced depth after handling starting duties during Hejny’s absence.

Brosterhous faces a favorable defensive matchup but still needs to execute consistently. Colorado State’s secondary has struggled, yet Utah State must capitalize on those opportunities.
Hejny offers the stronger recent offensive spark, although the Rams cannot afford careless mistakes on the road. Protecting the football will be important for both teams.
Colorado State Rams vs. Utah State Aggies bottom line: Colorado State brings the more productive offense, but Utah State’s home-field advantage and defensive improvement could make this a difficult afternoon for the Rams.
Colorado State Rams vs. Utah State Aggies Football Betting Trends
- Colorado State has gone over the total in their last 9 games.
- Also, as underdogs, the Rams have gone over in their last 6 games.
- The Rams have covered the spread in 8 of their last 11 games after a win.
- Utah State has won 24 of their last 29 games as favorites.
- Plus, the Aggies have covered the spread in 18 of their last 24 home games.
- In games with totals of 50 or more, Utah State has covered the spread in 16 of their last 20 games.
Rams Aggies Free Pick: Under 63.5
Here is my Rams Aggies free pick: I’m betting Under 63.5. Colorado State has gone Over in all 7 games, but Utah State is 1-6 to the Over. That’s a serious clash of styles, and I’m siding with the team that has struggled to put points on the board.
The Aggies have scored 21 points or fewer in 5 straight games. Even against Colorado State’s shaky defense, asking Utah State to suddenly deliver 30-plus points is a pretty big leap.
Colorado State’s defense can make almost anybody look dangerous, but Utah State still has to finish its drives.
The Rams have also shown they can score in bunches, so I’m not expecting a defensive masterpiece. I just don’t see both offenses consistently converting opportunities into touchdowns.
Utah State should be comfortable slowing the pace at home, especially if it can establish the run early. That would keep the Aggies out of a track meet and make every empty possession more valuable to the Under.
There’s risk here with Colorado State’s explosive offense, but the number gives us room for a couple of scoring bursts. I’m counting on Utah State’s offensive limitations to do the heavy lifting. My money is on Under 63.5.
