Week 3 college football sees the Rams and Rockets meet at the Glass Bowl.
The Colorada State Rams are not only 0 – 2 but the loss to an FCS program really has everyone concerned in Fort Collins. Opening the season with a loss to South Dakota State really sent 2nd-year head coach Steve Addazio through the presses and the media in Colorado is all over him already. Most teams schedule an FCS program to get that much-needed win and help to build some momentum even if it is an undervalued affair.
The Rams are already in trouble and we are barely out of the gate as the team hopes to avoid a 4th straight losing campaign.
The Rockets had Notre Dame on the ropes and almost escaped South Bend with a win a win last weekend. Despite the 32 – 29 loss, the line setters still give Toledo a ton of credit for that result and have the Rockets favored by 2 TD in this tilt. The line opened at -14 but it is slowly creeping up to -15 and it might just be there by kickoff.
The Rockets are favored by -14 points in this MW vs. MAC matchup.
Colorado State Rams
South Dakota State! You got Jackrabitted! As I said, when you put this team on the schedule it was supposed to be a momentum builder and not a confidence killer.
Not only did the loss to South Dakota State happen but then last weekend’s loss to Vanderbilt at home now has this program facing a potential 4th straight losing campaign. Steve Addazio was supposed to come to Fort Collins with all of his experience and turn this thing around. That has simply not been the case thus far and a trip to IOWA is on deck next weekend.
In fact, this program could easily be facing an 0 – 5 start before they get to New Mexico on October 16, although that is a road game and who knows how that will go at this point.
Todd Centeio hasn’t been a terrible QB to be honest, as his numbers look decent for a team that has gotten off to such a bad start. Centeio is 49 of 80 with 542 yards and a 3 / 1 TD to INT ratio which looks alright on paper.
Trey McBride is the go-to guy for Centeio thus far, as he has brought in 230 yards on 21 grabs and a score. David Bailey is the team’s leading rusher but he is also a viable threat in the passing game. Bailey has accumulated 126 yards from 34 carries and has two scores on the ground while he also has scored twice in the passing game.
Place Kicker Cayden Camper better get his head out of his ass too, as he has made only 1 of his 4 field goal attempts this season.
Toledo Rockets
South Bend will never be an easy place to play, but Toledo walked into Notre Dame’s field and age them all they could handle last weekend. A loss is a loss but a 3-point loss at Notre Dame for MAC outfit is still note-worthy. Toledo certainly feels as if they had that game and let it slip out of their hands which can certainly push your confidence in either direction. A good showing? Great, we lost so who cares!?! Or, is it a positive to take because the Irish were favored by 17 points and they barely got the W?
Regardless, the season goes on and Toledo has a great opportunity to pick up an easy win this weekend. The Rams pose no real threat to the Rockets so the only job at hand is to put Notre Dame behind them and start to build momentum as conference play is looming soon.
The Rockets are still healthy and have everyone available with no players on the report with any injuries. Starting QB Carter Bradley has impressively started the season 25 of 38 with 1 score and no INTs. Bradley and Devin Maddox have been working a lot together and it has paid off early. Maddox has already gained 226 yards with 11 catches and a score through two games. However, it is the only passing TD for the team as a whole and there is not a lot of depth at wideout for the Rockets.
Bryant Koback is the leading rusher going into this weekend with 174 yards from 30 carries and he has found the end zone 3 times as well. He and Dequan Finn will likely be the two who see most of the ball out of the Rockets backfield this weekend, although if the game gets blown open that could obviously change.

4* Free Week 3 NCAA Betting Pick:
I am thinking that we will not be seeing a boatload of points from this contest. Toledo is expected to cruise to a win and they should do just that. I just hope they don’t blow out the Rams too bad.
