2026 NCAAF Handicapping – Clemson Tigers vs Syracuse Orange
Here’s why I’m backing a Syracuse ATS bet below in my Tigers Orange free pick & gambling prediction for this matchup.
Tigers vs. Orange Gameday
The Clemson Tigers head to the JMA Wireless Dome to face the Syracuse Orange on Saturday, November 7. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET on ESPN2 in this Week 10 ACC matchup.
Clemson enters at 5-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play. Dabo Swinney’s Tigers are 2-1 on the road and coming off a 36-24 victory at Florida State.
Clemson has the better conference record, but Syracuse already knows how to beat these Tigers.
The Tigers are looking for consecutive victories after an uneven October.
Syracuse stands at 4-4 overall under Fran Brown. The Orange have won two straight, improving their ACC record to 2-4 after opening conference play with four consecutive losses.
Syracuse is 2-2 at home and needs two more victories to reach bowl eligibility. Beating Clemson would put the Orange above .500 for the first time since September.
The Orange won last year’s meeting 34-21 at Clemson. The Tigers still lead the all-time series 10-3, including a 5-1 record in Syracuse.
Neither team is ranked, and both have plenty riding on the final month. Clemson is trying to climb the ACC standings, while Syracuse needs to turn its recent improvement into a winning season.
It’s Week 10, Clemson Tigers vs. Syracuse Orange, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Clemson Tigers vs. Syracuse Orange Odds & Previous Games
Clemson is the -139 moneyline favorite, with Syracuse returning +115. The Tigers are laying 2.5 points, giving the Orange a short home-underdog number.
Clemson has won three of its last five games, beating Florida State 36-24, Charleston Southern 37-0 and California 24-10. Losses to Virginia Tech 20-16 and Miami 41-13 interrupted that stretch.
Syracuse has also gone 3-2 in its last five. The Orange defeated SMU 30-27, North Carolina 31-30 and Connecticut 42-41, while falling to Louisville 34-26 and Virginia 28-25.
Clemson is 3-5 against the spread this season, while Syracuse is 5-3. The Orange have covered in each of their last four games, including two outright victories.
The Tigers won 31-14 on their previous visit to Syracuse in 2023. They also took a 27-21 decision in 2022 and a 47-21 victory in 2020.
Recent meetings have favored Clemson, but last season’s result showed how quickly that can change. The Tigers would prefer a more comfortable afternoon than the betting line suggests.

Orange Stats
Syracuse has scored 251 points through eight games, averaging 31.4 per contest. The Orange have produced 2,202 passing yards and 1,297 rushing yards, giving them a productive offense despite their .500 record. Umari Hatcher leads the receiving corps with 952 yards and eight touchdowns. His production gives Syracuse a dependable threat when it needs to stretch the field.
Tylik Hill has rushed for 515 yards in seven games. The Orange have also found success moving the chains through shorter passing routes.
Syracuse can move the football, but its defense still has a habit of making things interesting.
The Orange have allowed 211 points, averaging 26.4 per game. Their defense has recorded 23 sacks and recovered six fumbles, providing occasional disruption despite the points surrendered.
Third-down defense remains a concern. Syracuse needs more consistent stops to prevent opponents from extending possessions.
Malachi Nelson is sidelined following ankle surgery.
His absence leaves the Orange with less experienced depth behind their starting quarterback.
Tigers Stats
Clemson has scored 186 points through eight games, averaging 23.3 per contest. The Tigers have generated 1,467 passing yards and 1,227 rushing yards, with the offense struggling to produce consistently.
Gideon Davidson leads the rushing attack with 528 yards and five touchdowns. His production has helped Clemson stay competitive when the passing game stalls.
Bryant Wesco Jr. has caught 38 passes for 411 yards. He remains one of Clemson’s primary receiving options, particularly when the Tigers need yards on passing downs.
Defensively, Clemson has allowed 173 points, averaging 21.6 per game.
The Tigers have recorded 24 sacks and seven interceptions, providing the pressure and takeaways that have helped offset offensive problems.
The defensive front remains one of Clemson’s strengths. Opponents have struggled to establish consistent rushing production against the Tigers. Cole Turner and Markus Strong were ruled out against Florida State, while Gordon Sellars III has dealt with a concussion. Offensive linemen Harris Sewell and Elyjah Thurmon are also dealing with availability issues entering the Syracuse game.
Tigers vs. Orange QB Matchup
Steve Angeli leads Syracuse with 1,187 passing yards through six appearances. He’s thrown seven touchdowns and five interceptions while attempting 171 passes.
Angeli has returned to action following earlier injury problems. His experience gives Syracuse a more established option under center heading into November.
Nelson threw for 532 yards and three touchdowns in three games before undergoing surgery for a high ankle sprain. His absence limits the Orange’s alternatives if another quarterback change becomes necessary.
Clemson freshman Tait Reynolds has thrown for 1,285 yards through eight appearances. He’s attempted 212 passes, producing three touchdowns and three interceptions.
Reynolds took over the starting job after the Tigers’ second game. Swinney has continued to back him despite an inconsistent passing attack.
Christopher Vizzina started Clemson’s first two games before suffering an elbow injury. He’s been working toward full health, but Reynolds remains the starter.

Angeli has produced more touchdown passes, while Reynolds has relied heavily on Clemson’s running game. Both quarterbacks face defenses capable of disrupting passing plays. Third-down execution could be decisive. Syracuse needs Angeli to recognize pressure quickly, while Clemson must give Reynolds manageable situations rather than asking him to rescue stalled possessions.
Clemson Tigers vs. Syracuse Orange bottom line: Clemson brings a stronger defensive front into the Dome, but Syracuse has enough offensive production to challenge the Tigers throughout this ACC matchup.
Clemson Tigers vs. Syracuse Orange Football Betting Trends

- Also, Clemson is 6-1 against the spread in their last 7 away games.
- The Orange are 4-0 against the spread in their last 4 games as underdogs.
- Syracuse is 4-0 against the spread in their last 4 overall games.
- Plus, Clemson is 21-8 straight up in their last 29 games as favorites.
- The Orange are 18-10 straight up in their last 28 games after a win.
Tigers Orange Free Pick: Syracuse +2.5
Here is my Tigers Orange free pick: I’m backing Syracuse +2.5. Clemson is asking bettors to lay points on the road with an offense that has been anything but dependable. That’s a tough sell at this price.
Syracuse has covered four straight games as an underdog, and I like that trend against a favorite struggling to sustain drives. Clemson doesn’t have much room for error when it keeps giving the football back.
I’m not paying a premium for Clemson’s reputation when its offense hasn’t earned one.
The Tigers also have problems along their offensive line, including injuries at center and left guard. That’s a dangerous combination against a home underdog capable of making this an ugly, possession-by-possession fight.
I’d rather have the points than trust Clemson to manufacture separation.
If the Tigers want to win this one, they’ll have to execute for four quarters, something they’ve struggled to do consistently.
Give me the Orange to make Clemson sweat through the final possession.
I’m riding the home dog with Syracuse +2.5.
