Week 2 college football sees the Broncos and Lobos meet at University Stadium on Friday night at 9 PM ET.
The Broncos are favored by -16.5 points in this Mountain West Conference matchup which is also a Mountain Division battle. I’ll bet you didn’t expect to see a 0 – 1 Boise State taking on a 1 – New Mexico either, but that’s just paperwork to sort out when the season is over.
Boise State Broncos
Boise State landed in Corvallis, Oregon this past weekend as slight favorites to win their season-opening affair, but the Beavers weren’t interested in letting that happen. Oregon State doubled up Boise State, 34 – 17, and it was just another Under coming in when it comes to these Broncos.
The one thing you could count on last season with the Broncos was another under cashing in, as they came in under the number in 9 of their last 10 games. So far, another 1 – 0 to start this season but do you see why we don’t regard rankings and numbers in college football too often?
Boise State is going up one of the BEST DEFENSES IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL THIS WEEKEND!
I know, you just threw up, right? Open the rankings for yourself and notice the 4th ranked run defense in the land! Hi, they played Maine and they shut them out, 41 – 0! Yay Team!
Listen, if you think there is a lick of stock to put in that? Stop watching college football and take up backgammon or get in your nearest local checkers tourney!
Now, Boise will not have the same issues they had moving the ball this weekend as they did in Corvallis, but seeing them down 24 – 0 at halftime was like, wait, what? You’re favored and in Oregon State and you scored zero points in the first f**king half? Come on, man!
New Mexico Lobos
So, we all know that Maine wasn’t going to give New Mexico any type of battle and they didn’t. So, what’s to take from a scrimmage against an FCS opponent? WHY? Who the hell schedules these games and why? If New Mexico is 6 – 6 this year that win is going to be one that might cost them a shot at a bowl bid but we’ll worry about that later I guess.
Boise is heavily favored to stay on the road and win another… oops, wait, not win another game but at least they’ll play another road game as the favorite. The Lobos will have to figure out how to slow down Taylen Green and the blue print was handed to them by the Beavers last weekend.
So, can the Lobos shutout Boise State this weekend too? Imagine?
Yeah, that’s not going to happen, but our next question is can they hang around long enough to cover that 16.5-point spread at home. You know me after all of my time here, and no one thinks dog better than this guy. ( I know this because my forum has been called Thinkdog for over 25 years)
New Mexico didn’t exactly come out of the gate strong against Maine either. A scoreless first quarter led to 3 touchdowns in the second quarter as the Lobos carried a 21 – 0 lead to the half and cruised from there.

I am sorry to have to do this, but 44 is too low. Anyone who thinks that New Mexico has earned their highly ranked defensive numbers should be shot for stupidity, LoL.
This is going to be a 44 – 24 Boise win and the points will definitely come our way.
