The Falcons will look to their offense to help them become a .500 team this season, but can they do it?
2018 Bowling Green Falcons Predictions: Team Strengths
Improved D-line?: Bowling Green’s defensive line should be its biggest strength this season. The numbers last season were not pretty.
After replacing a starting defensive end and starting nose tackle they gave up an insane 253 yards per game on the ground.
No team can be successful giving up yards like that to opposing running backs. What should you expect this season?
David Konowalski should be the leader of the unit, as senior comes in after a solid 2017 season with 56 tackles, 3 and a half sacks, and 6 QB hurries.
If he can get pressure on the QB in early down situations it should help avoid the unit getting run all over in the trenches.

A star in the making at receiver?: The passing game should be solid for the Falcons. The biggest name from the receivers group is Scott Miller.
He isn’t a game breaker as he only averaged 11 yards per catch, he did have a long of 69 yards and caught 63 balls. With better pass protection for the QB I expect Miller to grab at least 75 passes and possibly reach 900 receiving yards.
The rest of the receiving corps includes the speedy Datrin Guyton who averaged almost 19 yards per catch and hauled in 31 passes.
With a bigger role this year he could potentially be a breakout player in the MAC. I expect him to haul in at least 50 passes and possibly hit double-digit touchdowns due to his breakaway speed.
Andrew Clair is in line to be the starting running back and he should also see more action catching the ball too. He ran for over 700 yards last year and could hit 1,000 as the primary back.
In the receiving game, he caught 13 passes last year and it would be a huge boost for the offense if he can double that number.
2018 Bowling Green Falcons Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Special Teams: A team that finishes 2-10 clearly has a lot of glaring weaknesses. Why am I so quick to bring up the special teams unit?
The Falcons lose their star punter in Davidson, who had the 4th highest career punting average in FBS history.
They will also need to replace their starting kicker, and current Juco signee Nate Needham is pegged to be the starter.
The return game will be anchored by Andrew Clair who had a long return of 50 yards and will seem to be their do-everything all-star.
If they can find solid kicking then this unit should be able to keep the Falcons in close games.

Bowling Green Falcons Prediction: 3-9
I don’t see this team improving as much as some of the experts think.
The schedule starts off tough with a road game against Oregon in Autzen Stadium, then continues with a home game against Maryland.
Conference play won’t be easy as they have road games at Buffalo the day after Thanksgiving and also visit Toledo and Ohio.

It will be another tough year for Bowling Green and I don’t think coach Jinks will be able to get to a 4th season.
