Panthers vs. Broncos Analysis – Superbowl 50 Outlook
Cam Newton is the captain of the ship and he is the most dynamic player on the field. We all know what Newton is capable of so we don’t need to go in-depth about his skill set.
Newton can make a lot of plays with his legs, move out of the pocket, hit big plays down the field, and run the read option.

However, Newton can’t do everything himself and will need help from his offensive line. The good news is the that the Panthers have a rock solid offensive line led by center Ryan Kalil.
Kalil has been one of the best offensive linemen, but he is just finally starting to get that recognition from the causal fan. Kalil blocks well running and passing, but his biggest skill is his intelligence.
Kalil is the one who reads the defense and makes adjustments at the line. This is key as everyone will need to be on the same page to stifle the aggressive Denver defense.
Sticking with the offensive line, a couple of key matchups to watch will be tackles Michael Oher and Mike Remmers versus Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware. Will the Denver pass rushers have their way with Carolina’s tackles? Or will Carolina be able to block them effectively?

They don’t necessarily have to block or stop Miller and Ware, they just need to push them behind Newton and get them out of the play. Let Newton step up in the pocket and let him do his thing.
Broncos Defense By The Numbers:
- Passing Yards: 199.6 yards per game (1st)
- Rushing Yards: 83.6 yards per game (3rd)
- Total Yards: 283 yards per game (1st)
- Points Scored: 18.5 points per game (4th)
Key Players:
- OLB Demarcus Ware
- OLB Von Miller
- SS T.J. Ward
- FS Darian Stewart
Panthers vs. Broncos Analysis – Superbowl 50 Outlook
The big key in this one is Denver’s pass rush. Whether or not Denver will be able to get to Newton and bring him down behind the line of scrimmage will be the ultimate key in this game.
If Denver can continuously put pressure on Newton and bring him down before he is able to scramble around and make a play then the Broncos have a shot in this game.
If Denver doesn’t bring the heat or if the Denver pass rushers don’t play sound gap control on the line of scrimmage then they are going to have a long day and another embarrassing performance on the big stage.
Also, watch for safeties T.J. Ward and Darian Stewart. They got hurt late in the Patriots game and Rob Gronkowski was able to run wild. They will be a bit banged up coming into this game and so just how effective will they be?
Ward will be on Greg Olsen and Stewart will be the free safety over the top trying to contain the deep ball versus the Carolina trio of Ted Gin, Philly Brown, and Devin Funchess.
Panthers vs. Broncos Analysis – Superbowl 50 Prediction
With all that said, I think the advantage here is Carolina. It only takes a couple of key plays to shift momentum in the NFL and I believe we will see Carolina make about those key explosive plays.
Newton will be able to gash Denver for a 12 yard run, hit Olsen up the middle for 18 yards to convert those key 3rd down conversions. And then maybe once or twice hit a long explosive play to Ted Ginn, Philly Brown, or Devin Funchess which will carry the day for Carolina and eventually as the last team standing.
