Pierceson Coody offers excellent value for bettors looking beyond the favorites.

The missed cut here last season doesn’t concern me much.
That disappointment came almost entirely because of an opening-round 79. Outside of that one difficult day, Coody has consistently played solid golf around TPC Deere Run, posting every other competitive round at 70 or better.

If he gets off to a quicker start this year, his length and aggressive style should create plenty of birdie opportunities throughout the tournament.

Every tournament seems to feature a sweet spot where the betting value really begins to appear.
This week, that section starts around the 30-to-1 range.
Jordan Spieth immediately caught my attention.

Michael Thorbjornsen deserves serious consideration as well.

Rickie Fowler is another interesting option.
His experience, improved ball striking, and ability to handle pressure make him a dangerous sleeper whenever weaker fields like this appear on the schedule.
Sudarshan Yellamaraju is another player worth monitoring closely. The Canadian continues gaining valuable PGA Tour experience while steadily improving throughout the season. His confidence has grown noticeably over the past several months, and this type of tournament could provide an excellent opportunity for another breakthrough performance.
Darkhorse Candidates Worth a Look
The John Deere Classic has built a reputation for producing surprise contenders, making this range especially interesting.
Taylor Pendrith offers plenty of upside.
The Canadian generates tremendous power while continuing to improve his iron play. If he finds an average putting week, his length could leave him with numerous scoring opportunities throughout the tournament.
Daniel Berger also deserves consideration.
Injuries slowed his career for several seasons, but his overall game has steadily returned. Berger remains one of the better iron players on Tour when healthy, making him an intriguing outright candidate.
Tony Finau may surprise a few bettors as well.
Although his recent form has been inconsistent, Finau has enough talent to dominate weaker fields when everything starts clicking. At these odds, the upside becomes difficult to ignore. Finally, Max Homa remains capable of producing a huge week despite recent struggles. Sometimes all it takes is one comfortable golf course to completely change a player’s confidence.
Longshot Golfers With a Path
Longshots have enjoyed success at Deere Run before, making this one of the better tournaments for sprinkling a few smaller outright tickets across the board.
Mackenzie Hughes immediately stands out.
The Canadian remains one of the Tour’s better putters, and putting often becomes the deciding factor during low-scoring tournaments like this one. If his approach game cooperates, he could easily outperform these odds.
Adam Svensson deserves attention for similar reasons.
He’s quietly become a reliable ball striker capable of making plenty of birdies when confidence builds early in the week.
Lucas Glover is another veteran worth mentioning. His outstanding iron play continues giving him opportunities almost every week, even if putting sometimes limits his upside.
Finally, Zach Johnson cannot be ignored whenever the PGA Tour visits Deere Run. The Iowa native knows this golf course as well as anyone and will undoubtedly receive tremendous local support throughout the week. Sometimes experience still matters.

This isn’t a tournament where I load up on one outright ticket and hope for the best.
Because scoring is so low at TPC Deere Run, one hot round can completely change the leaderboard. A golfer sitting 7 shots back after Thursday can suddenly be tied for the lead by Friday afternoon.
That creates outstanding betting opportunities.
I usually spread my bankroll across outright winners, Top-10 finishes, Top-20 finishes, and tournament matchups. Placement markets often provide better value than simply chasing a winner in an event where dozens of players can realistically reach 20-under par.

Weather Could Be the X-Factor
The weather forecast always deserves a close look before placing your final card, even at a course that usually produces low scores.
TPC Deere Run becomes much more challenging when the wind starts blowing across the property. Fairways remain generous, but approach shots become far more difficult, especially on several exposed holes along the Rock River.
If conditions stay calm, expect another birdie shootout.
If afternoon winds pick up, golfers receiving early tee times could gain a significant advantage over the opposite wave. That’s something I’ll monitor right up until Thursday morning before locking in my bets. Small weather edges can make a big difference over 72 holes.
