2026 BMW Championship Free Picks
The BMW Championship brings together the top 50 players remaining in the FedExCup Playoffs, immediately eliminating the weaker half of last week’s field. There is no cut, so every golfer gets four rounds to make a move at Bellerive.
Only 30 will advance.
That changes the betting equation for players sitting near the Tour Championship bubble. Protecting position won’t be enough for everyone, and golfers who need FedExCup points may have to become increasingly aggressive if they fall behind during the opening rounds.
Scheffler doesn’t have that problem.
His eight-shot victory in Memphis strengthened an already commanding position atop the standings and gave him his second PGA Tour title of the season. After repeatedly finishing close without winning earlier in the year, he now enters St. Louis with the hottest hand in the field.
This Week on the PGA Tour
The FedExCup Playoffs have already trimmed the field from 70 players to 50. Once the final putt drops Sunday at Bellerive, another 20 will see their season end while the top 30 advance to East Lake for the Tour Championship.
That puts plenty of recognizable names under pressure.
Scheffler enters as the defending BMW Championship winner after taking last year’s event by two strokes at Caves Valley Golf Club. Patrick Cantlay remains the most recent golfer to successfully defend this tournament, winning consecutive BMW titles in 2021 and 2022.
Bellerive puts a premium on finding fairways, because playing repeatedly from thick rough can turn a promising round into a grind.
The smaller field also makes outright betting more interesting. Scheffler sits alone at an extremely short +290, forcing bettors to decide whether his current form justifies the price or whether the better value sits farther down the board.
Bellerive Country Club Course Preview
Bellerive Country Club presents a different challenge than TPC Southwind. The rough can punish wayward drives, putting extra pressure on golfers to combine enough distance with the accuracy needed to attack greens from manageable positions.
Driving matters here.
Finding fairways gives players a much better chance to control their approach shots, while repeatedly playing from thick rough can make scoring considerably tougher. That balance between distance and precision should help separate the field over four rounds.
The course also places plenty of pressure on ball striking.
Players who consistently give themselves clean looks into the greens can stay aggressive, while those scrambling from poor positions may spend the week fighting simply to save par.
BMW Championship Betting Trends
With only 50 golfers in the field and no cut, bettors don’t need to approach this tournament like a normal PGA Tour stop. One rough opening round doesn’t automatically kill an outright ticket because every player has four complete rounds to recover.
Current form carries extra weight.
Scheffler enters after winning by eight strokes, Hideki Matsuyama has stacked four straight top-7 finishes since The Open Championship, and Sungjae Im arrives after a T5 at TPC Southwind.
Tommy Fleetwood brings consistency instead.
He’s finished inside the top 25 in 13 of his 17 starts this season, including eight top-10s and four top-5 finishes. His accuracy off the tee also gives him a profile that should translate nicely to Bellerive.
Last Year
Scottie Scheffler erased a four-shot deficit during a five-hole stretch to capture the 2025 BMW Championship. The defining moment came at the par-3 17th, where Scheffler chipped in from 82 feet for birdie and slammed the door on Robert MacIntyre’s comeback attempt.
Scheffler closed with a 3-under 67.
The two-shot victory gave him his fifth PGA Tour title of 2025 and made him the first player since Tiger Woods in 2006 and 2007 to win at least five Tour events in consecutive seasons.
MacIntyre had controlled much of the tournament with 18 birdies through his first 45 holes, but his scoring disappeared late. He managed only two birdies over his final 27 holes and closed with a 3-over 73 on Sunday.
Scheffler left the BMW Championship as the top-seeded player heading to East Lake.

The winners list is loaded with elite PGA Tour talent, and that’s hardly surprising for an event limited to the best players remaining in the postseason. Seven different golfers have won over the past 10 editions, with Cantlay the only player to successfully go back-to-back during that stretch.

Scheffler’s +290 price dominates the conversation at the top of the board. He’s coming off an eight-shot win, holds the No. 1 position in the FedExCup standings, and returns as defending BMW champion, so there is no mystery behind the number.
The question is whether bettors want to pay it.
My 2026 BMW Championship Free Picks also target three golfers farther down the board whose current form and ball striking give them enough upside to challenge the favorite.
Below are my four outright selections for the second leg of the FedExCup Playoffs.
2026 BMW Championship Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Scottie Scheffler +290
Scottie Scheffler is expensive, but fading him after what happened in Memphis isn’t easy. He rolled through the FedEx St. Jude Championship by eight strokes for his second victory of the season, strengthening his grip on the top spot in the FedExCup standings.
The wins haven’t come as often as expected this year.
That hasn’t been because Scheffler suddenly stopped playing elite golf. Several runner-up finishes kept him knocking on the door, and last week’s blowout victory may have been exactly what he needed to turn all those close calls into another late-season run.
Scheffler also enters as the defending BMW Championship winner. At +290, there isn’t much margin for error from a betting perspective, but he’s clearly the player everyone else has to beat.
Our 2026 BMW Championship Free Picks start with Scheffler despite the short number because his current form and playoff position separate him from the field.
2026 BMW Championship Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Tommy Fleetwood +2000
Tommy Fleetwood has been one of the most reliable players on Tour this season. He’s finished inside the top 25 in 13 of 17 starts, with eight top-10 finishes and four top-5s along the way.
That consistency gives him plenty of appeal at +2000.
Fleetwood’s accuracy off the tee could become an even bigger weapon at Bellerive, where avoiding the thick rough should make attacking the greens considerably easier. He doesn’t need to overpower this course if he continues putting himself in position from the fairway.
The price is much easier to work with than Scheffler’s.
Fleetwood has spent enough weekends near the top of leaderboards this season to make another serious run in St. Louis feel realistic rather than hopeful.
2026 BMW Championship Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Hideki Matsuyama +2700
Hideki Matsuyama may be the hottest player on the board who isn’t named Scheffler. Since finishing T14 at The Open Championship, he’s posted four straight top-7 results with finishes of T3, T5, T7, and T7.
That’s a serious run of golf.
Matsuyama’s ball striking also gives him the kind of profile I want at Bellerive. If he’s consistently finding fairways and controlling his approaches, he should create enough scoring chances to stay in the hunt through Sunday.
At +2700, we’re getting a much more attractive number on a player who looks increasingly close to breaking through.
2026 BMW Championship Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Sungjae Im +6500
Sungjae Im played his way into this week’s field with a T5 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, making him the only golfer to climb into the BMW Championship field based on his finish in Memphis. That result was his third top-5 of 2026 and continued an excellent stretch of recent golf.
Im has now finished inside the top 15 in four of his last five starts.
His game should travel well to Bellerive. Accuracy and controlled ball striking matter on a course where thick rough can quickly turn a slightly missed drive into a difficult approach.
The +6500 price makes this one especially interesting.
Im doesn’t need to carry the same win probability as the favorites to justify a ticket at these odds, and his current form gives him enough upside to become a factor if the leaders leave the door open.
Best Mid-Tier Value Plays
The middle of this week’s board is loaded because only 50 golfers remain in the FedExCup Playoffs. Cameron Young and Matt Fitzpatrick sit at +2200, while Hideki Matsuyama, Viktor Hovland, and Chris Gotterup are all available at +2700.
Patrick Cantlay deserves attention at +3000.
He’s already won this tournament twice, including consecutive BMW Championship titles in 2021 and 2022. Wyndham Clark and Si Woo Kim carry the same +3000 price, giving bettors several proven options before the odds move into the darker-horse range.
Matsuyama remains my preferred play from this group.
Four consecutive top-7 finishes provide exactly the kind of current form I want behind an outright wager this late in the season.
Darkhorse Candidates Worth Watching
A 50-player field creates some unusual prices on golfers who would normally sit much closer to the top of the board. Collin Morikawa opens this tier at +3500, followed by Tom Kim, Justin Thomas, and Jake Knapp at +4000.
There’s legitimate winning ability throughout this range.
Russell Henley, Maverick McNealy, Kurt Kitayama, and Robert MacIntyre all sit at +4500, while Min Woo Lee moves out to +5000. Michael Brennan rounds out this group at +5500.
With no cut this week, these players get four full rounds to recover from one bad stretch.
Longshot Golfers With Upside
The longshot board looks stronger than usual because the BMW Championship has already eliminated everyone outside the FedExCup top 50. Sungjae Im at +6500 is my favorite option in this range, but he’s hardly the only recognizable player carrying a big number.
Adam Scott, Alex Noren, J.J. Spaun, Ryan Gerard, and Michael Thorbjornsen are all available at +6000.
With only 50 golfers in the field, BMW Championship longshots still carry far more win equity than their prices might suggest.
Rickie Fowler joins Im at +6500, while Justin Rose, Ben Griffin, and Jacob Bridgeman sit at +7000. Anyone reaching farther down the board should demand a strong combination of recent form and course fit before taking on the additional risk.
Full Handicapping Odds To Win The 2026 BMW Championship
The second leg of the FedExCup Playoffs gives bettors a compact board with only 50 golfers remaining. Scottie Scheffler stands alone at +290 after dominating in Memphis, while the next group offers significantly bigger prices for anyone unwilling to lay such a short number.

How to Bet the BMW Championship
A 50-player no-cut event opens up several ways to attack the BMW Championship beyond outright winners. Top-10 and Top-20 markets become especially interesting because every golfer gets four rounds, while head-to-head matchups let bettors isolate specific course-fit advantages without having to beat the entire field.
