It’s time for the latest edition of the 2024 Presidents Cup Tourney, and that means it’s time for some free golf picks. The final significant team tournament of 2024 will be played at Royal Montreal when the biennial Presidents Cup takes place this weekend. The tournament has been played in alternate years since 1994, with the International team’s track record in this tournament quite difficult to read.

• Date: September 26 – 29, 2024
• Format: Match-play
• Defending Champion: USA
• TV Coverage: NBC, Golf Channel

Only twice in the 14 editions of this tournament has the US side not emerged victorious, with the International side winning in 1998, and the match ending in a draw in 2003. This year’s American captain, Jim Furyk, will have his collection of top-flight players eyeing a 13th victory for the US side.

Leading the International side in his native country is Canadian Mike Weir. He’ll lead the International side with the tournament returning to Montreal for the first time since 2007. The 2003 Masters champion is the first Canadian to serve as captain of the International team.

Presidents Cup Golf Gambling

Weir is bringing a strong contingent to Montreal, with one of the deeper International squads in recent memory, led by the likes of Sungjae Im, Hideki Matsuyama, Adam Scott, and Jason Day, as well as a trio of Canadians in Corey Conners, Mackenzie Hughes, and Taylor Pendrith.

Jim Furyk’s American side certainly isn’t short on elite talent as well, with the two standout stars of the 2024 PGA Tour season leading his roster, with Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele combining for three major tournament victories, an Olympic gold medal, and the Tour Championship grand prize in a memorable year for each player.

2024 Presidents Cup Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Hideki Matsuyama +650

Matsuyama is the highest-ranked International player at seventh in the world. He’s dealt with some injuries in recent years, but when he’s healthy and playing at the top of his game, he’s as good as any player in the world, and that’s the form we expect to get from him this weekend.

2024 Presidents Cup Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Corey Conners +800

Conners made his Presidents Cup debut in 2022, and hopefully he can put that behind him and start fresh here. Conners lost all four matches that time out, but his journey did ascend as he took Xander Schauffele to the 18th hole in their singles match on Sunday.

He should fair better on home soil. If you’re looking for a Canadian to back and aren’t sold on Conners, Mackenzie Hughes is coming off a T4 at the Procore Championship and is worth a look.

2024 Presidents Cup Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Patrick Cantlay +650

Cantlay is an interesting pick because he offers more favorable odds than Xander Schauffele who he’ll surely be paired with, and they present the U.S. with their most dominant foursome pairing. The two have been paired together seven times – second in US Presidents Cup history behind only Fred Couples and Davis Love III.

Cantlay finished second in Team USA’s scoring at the 2023 Ryder Cup behind only Max Homa. He’s 4-0-0 in singles matches in international play since turning pro. Could be a great capper for him to close out a forgettable 2024 season.

2024 Presidents Cup Free Picks & Golf Betting Odds: Max Homa +1100

Not a lot of love from oddsmakers for Home this year as he comes to this tournament having been in a prolonged slump dating back to May. Since his T8 at the Wells Fargo Championship, he hasn’t finished better than T22, with three missed cuts.

But Homa has been showing out for the US and excelling in this format. His four points at the last Presidents Cup was tops among all players, and his 3.5 points at the Ryder Cup led all US players again.
