A west coast Saturday night game this week has the Caps in LA. Washington comes into this one with a 5 point lead on the President’s trophy, meanwhile the Kings are just 1 point off St. Louis for the final wild card spot in the west, though the Blues have one game in hand.
Washington Capitals
At some point the Washington Capitals have to win a Stanley Cup, they are just too good not to. Yet they continue to not win the Stanley Cup year after year. The Capitals look as good as they ever have this season though, so considering them the cup favourite this year is perfectly reasonable.
A troubling thing has occurred over the last couple of games however, Braden Holtby hasn’t looked all that good. Arguably the leading favourite for the Vezina this year, he let in 4 goals on 24 shots to San Jose on Thursday, and was pulled against Dallas on Monday.

Could back-to-back poor performances by one of the best (if not the best) goalies in the league be cause for concern? Probably not, but Caps fans hoping this is finally their year would rather not see their goalie struggle late in the year.
The Caps have dropped their last two games and will be looking to get back on track in this first game of a double-heaader for them, as they are in Anaheim on Sunday.
Los Angeles Kings
Don’t count out Darryl Sutter’s LA Kings. They are one point back of a playoff spot, currently occupied by the team they will play on Monday, the St. Louis Blues.
The Kings are an odd team. From 2011 to 2014 they won the Stanley Cup twice, went to the conference finals the year before, and looked like they could possibly be a dynasty. Then they miss the playoffs the next year and are out in the first round the year after that.

So far so good for the returning Jonathan Quick. After missing 59 games, the 2012 Conn Smyth winner has gone 3-0-1 since returning with .920 save percentage.
If you get Jonathan Quick back into the playoffs there’s no ceiling for the Kings.
While it’s hard to look past the Washington Capitals, the Kings have a big game against St. Louis on Monday. It’s very likely by the time that game is over, LA will be on pace for postseason play.
NHL Betting Trends:

Free Washington Capitals vs. Los Angeles Kings NHL Hockey Prediction:
Quick is hot and Holtby’s not and I think that will be all the difference here.
LA is a team with a lot to play for while Washington has seemed surprisingly beatable lately.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick:
Jarome Iginla has already provided a spark for the Kings as well, particularly against Nashville on Thursday, where he scored one in regulation and another in OT to win it.
