The Buffalo Sabres are trying to rediscover the form that won them nine of their first 12 games this season as they host the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday. Buffalo has lost seven of its last eight games (1-5-2) after a 4-1 setback at Chicago on Sunday.
Minnesota, which has the fewest points in the Western Conference, alternated wins and losses over its last six games after falling 4-3 in overtime to Carolina on Saturday. Something has got to give in this battle of the stoppable force vs the movable object.
One stat that sticks out to me is:
The Wild are 10-for-10 on the penalty kill in the last four games and 20-for-22 in their past eight while Buffalo is 0-for-18 on the power play in the last seven contests while killing only 11-of-18 penalties in its past five.

With the thought of a poor special teams performance in line, I really like the under.
Minnesota Wild
The offense has been the problem for the Wild so far. Eric Staal (team-high 14 points) and Zach Parise each have a team-high six goals but are a combined minus-24.
Mats Zuccarello, who signed a five-year, $30 million contract during the offseason, has three goals and seven points and has been kept off the scoresheet in the last four games.
The people who produce just haven’t been producing. And I should add, the goaltending hasn’t been much better. Gone are the days of the great wall of Saint Paul. The Wild are 2-11 in their last 13 games as a road underdog.

Buffalo Sabres
Jack Eichel is a beast. I don’t even look into the stats to know that. But here’s something for you. Their only victory during the last 8 games was when Jack Eichel scored four goals in a 4-2 victory over Ottawa.
Jack Eichel scored his team-leading 13th goal Sunday and also paces the club with 24 points. He will look to get the Sabres onto the scoreboard in this one, and he needs to with how their depth scoring has been going.
Going back in the past, The Sabres won a pair of one-goal games to sweep the 2018-19 season series with D Rasmus Dahlin scoring in each contest and Eichel recording four assists.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Sabres are 5-2 in their last 7 games as a home favorite.
- Sabres are 5-1 in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400.
- Under is 4-0 in Sabres last 4 games as a favorite.
- Under is 5-0 in Sabres last 5 following a loss of 3 or more goals.
- Under is 5-1 in Sabres last 6 vs. Central.
Free Minnesota Wild vs. Buffalo Sabres NHL Prediction:
I like the Sabres in this one. If you’re feeling risky I could see them winning this one by 2. But it’s going to be low scoring.
