Columbus is playing on consecutive nights, and that’s where I see the advantage. Tired legs lead to missed assignments, slower defensive recoveries and unnecessary penalties.
Minnesota can make those mistakes expensive.
The Wild have the offensive talent to punish Columbus when its defensive coverage starts breaking down.
I also don’t need the Blue Jackets to match Minnesota goal for goal. Two or three from Columbus could be enough if the Wild get rolling, and a trailing team pressing forward can create scoring chances at both ends.
The biggest concern is Wallstedt shutting Columbus down completely.
Still, the Blue Jackets have enough individual skill to contribute, especially if Minnesota gets careless protecting a lead. I’m not counting on another shutout from a club that just played 60-plus minutes Saturday.
Blue Jackets Wild Over 6.5 is the bet. Minnesota has the better attack, Columbus has the tougher schedule, and I’m looking for the defensive mistakes that come with that combination.
