Blues vs. Predators Gameday
The St. Louis Blues visit the Nashville Predators on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Bridgestone Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 PM ET, with Blue Note+ carrying the St. Louis broadcast. The Blues enter at 3-3-1, while Nashville stands at 2-2-3.
Jim Montgomery’s Blues are wrapping up a three-game road trip. Their three-game point streak ended Thursday, leaving St. Louis looking for a stronger finish away from home.
The Blues have shown they can compete offensively, although defensive consistency remains a concern.
St. Louis has the stronger scoring attack, but Nashville’s veteran talent makes careless mistakes expensive.
Andrew Brunette’s Predators have dropped three consecutive games, with two losses coming in shootouts. Nashville is 1-2-1 at home and needs to turn close contests into victories.
This is the first of four meetings between these Central Division rivals. Nashville won last season’s series 3-1, including both home meetings. The Predators will look to extend that success against a St. Louis club still establishing its identity.
Neither team has found consistent form, making this a useful early-season measuring stick.

St. Louis has scored at least four goals in three consecutive games.
Nashville lost 3-2 in a shootout to San Jose after falling 5-2 to Vegas and 3-2 in a shootout at Ottawa. Its last victory came against Montreal, 5-2.

Predators Stats
Nashville has scored 18 goals through seven games, averaging 2.57 per contest. The Predators have seven power-play goals but only 171 shots on goal. Their offense has been more productive with the man advantage than at even strength.
The Predators have allowed 20 goals and blocked 112 shots. Their faceoff performance has also been inconsistent, making sustained possession more difficult.
Nashville needs to spend less time defending and more time creating second-chance opportunities.
The Predators have dangerous finishers, but their limited shot production makes every missed opportunity more costly.
Steven Stamkos leads Nashville with four goals and eight points. Roman Josi has seven points, while Ryan O’Reilly has six.
Filip Forsberg has contributed six assists but remains without a goal. Nashville needs more finishing from one of its most dangerous forwards.
Saros has handled the bulk of the goaltending workload and remains essential to Nashville’s defensive structure. His ability to handle traffic and control rebounds can keep the Predators competitive. Saturday’s starting assignment has not been confirmed.
Blues Stats
St. Louis has scored 25 goals through seven games, averaging 3.57 per contest. The Blues have registered 182 shots on goal. Their scoring efficiency has compensated for modest shot volume.
Defensively, the Blues have allowed 23 goals, averaging 3.29 per game. That remains the biggest concern for Montgomery’s club.
Better coverage around the crease would take pressure off the goaltenders.
Mason McTavish leads St. Louis with five goals and eight points. Pius Suter and Connor McMichael have six points apiece, giving the Blues several contributors.
Dylan Holloway provides physicality, while Robert Thomas remains an important playmaker. Jonatan Berggren has also taken on a larger offensive role.
Montgomery has options when adjusting his forward combinations.
Joel Hofer has recorded 116 saves and one shutout through five appearances. Jordan Binnington has 50 saves in two games.
Pavel Buchnevich’s availability remains uncertain following his absence for the birth of his child. Dillon Dube, Alexey Toropchenko, Logan Mailloux and Tyler Tucker have also been unavailable.
St. Louis Blues vs. Nashville Predators bottom line: St. Louis has the stronger offensive production, but its defensive execution must improve against Nashville’s experienced forwards.

Blues Predators Free Pick: St. Louis Blues ML -109
Here is my Blues Predators free pick: I’m taking St. Louis Blues ML -109. Nashville has the names to scare bettors away from fading them, but reputation doesn’t cash tickets. At practically even money, I want the team that’s more likely to make the other side chase the game.
St. Louis has an opportunity to put Nashville’s defense under pressure by getting pucks behind its defensemen and forcing turnovers below the goal line. The Predators haven’t handled sustained pressure particularly well, and their transition game suffers when they spend too long defending.
That’s the matchup I want Montgomery attacking from the opening shift.
At -109, I’ll back St. Louis to force the action rather than trust Nashville to find another gear.
The danger is Nashville getting the first goal and settling into a more controlled game. That would allow the Predators to protect the middle of the ice and make St. Louis work harder for clean entries. I don’t want the Blues chasing this one.
There’s also the goaltending question, with neither starter confirmed. I’m not building a bet around a goalie matchup that could change before puck drop.
St. Louis doesn’t need to dominate for 60 minutes to cash this ticket.
I’ll take the team willing to attack, accept the risk that comes with its defense, and live with the result. Nashville’s veteran reputation isn’t worth an extra penny to me.
My money is on Blues -109.
