Bruins vs. Kings Gameday
The Boston Bruins visit the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Crypto.com Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 PM ET, with NESN and ABTV carrying the game. Boston enters at 6-2-0, while Los Angeles remains winless at 0-3-2.
Marco Sturm’s Bruins have won four consecutive games and are finishing a California back-to-back. They arrive after Friday’s victory in Anaheim, their third game in five days.
Boston has the better record, but the schedule is considerably less favorable.
Boston brings the momentum, while Los Angeles has the rest advantage and a growing sense of urgency.
Peter Laviolette’s Kings haven’t played since Tuesday. The coaching staff has used the break to examine its forward combinations and address the club’s lack of offensive production. Los Angeles needs a better response from its established veterans.
The Bruins swept last season’s series against the Kings. Both meetings were decided by a single goal, demonstrating how competitive these teams can be.
Los Angeles has a chance to end its losing streak against an opponent that may be feeling the effects of a demanding road trip.

Boston Bruins vs. Los Angeles Kings Odds & Previous Games
Los Angeles opened as a -133 moneyline favorite, with Boston at +112. The Kings are -1.5 (+189) on the puck line, while the Bruins are +1.5 (-235). The total is 5.5 goals, with Over -127 and Under +103.
Boston defeated Anaheim 4-2 on Friday after beating San Jose 6-3, Philadelphia 5-1 and Utah 6-1. Its previous loss came against Ottawa, 4-1.
The Bruins erased a two-goal deficit against Anaheim and scored three times in the third period.

Kings Stats
Los Angeles has scored 11 goals through five games, averaging 2.20 per contest. The Kings have struggled to establish consistent offensive pressure. Their forward group has produced little secondary scoring.
Defensively, Los Angeles has surrendered 21 goals, averaging 4.20 per game. The penalty kill has also struggled, contributing to the team’s poor start.
The Kings need significant improvement at both ends of the ice.
Los Angeles has experienced offensive talent, but its defensive breakdowns have made every scoring drought more costly.
Artemi Panarin leads the Kings with three goals, while Brandt Clarke has one goal and three assists. Adrian Kempe and Erik Haula have also contributed offensively.
Quinton Byfield remains important to the team’s development down the middle. Laviolette has been experimenting with his line combinations to generate more chances.
Kevin Fiala remains sidelined following leg surgery, while Alex Turcotte and Mats Zuccarello have also been unavailable. Kuemper has struggled early, with Anton Forsberg serving as the alternative. Neither goalie has been confirmed as Saturday’s starter.
Bruins Stats
Boston has scored 30 goals through eight games, averaging 3.75 per contest. The Bruins have allowed 18 goals, averaging 2.25 per game. Their offensive and defensive production has been considerably stronger than Los Angeles’ early numbers.
David Pastrnak remains Boston’s primary offensive threat, while Fraser Minten has emerged as a useful secondary scorer. Elias Lindholm provides experience and playmaking through the middle.
The Bruins have received contributions from several forward combinations.
Pastrnak scored his 423rd career goal Friday, moving into fourth place on Boston’s all-time list. Lindholm delivered the winning goal against Anaheim and finished with two points.
Frederic Brunet scored his first NHL goal, while Matthew Poitras also contributed to the victory. Boston’s younger players have helped keep the offense productive.
Charlie McAvoy’s return has strengthened the blue line.
Michael DiPietro made 25 saves Friday and earned his first NHL victory. Jeremy Swayman is expected to return against Los Angeles after receiving the night off.
Swayman has five wins and 159 saves through six appearances. His .930 save percentage reflects a strong start to the season.
Boston Bruins vs. Los Angeles Kings bottom line: Boston has the stronger early-season results, but Los Angeles’ rest advantage and the Bruins’ demanding schedule could make this a considerably tighter contest.
Boston Bruins vs. Los Angeles Kings Hockey Betting Trends

- Boston has won four of their last five games in the 2027 season.

Bruins Kings Free Pick: Under 5.5
Here is my Bruins Kings free pick: I’m betting Under 5.5 (+103). The Kings are winless, Boston has won four straight, and sportsbooks are still asking us to lay -127 on the Over. I’ll take the plus money and bet that Los Angeles makes this a grinding hockey game rather than another track meet.
Peter Laviolette has had three days to work on his team’s problems, and he’s already been experimenting with his forward combinations. The Kings need to establish a forecheck, close the gaps through the neutral zone and stop giving opponents easy entries. Another wide-open game isn’t going to solve anything.
Boston’s scheduling spot gives me another reason to expect a more deliberate approach. After Friday’s comeback in Anaheim, Sturm has little incentive to ask his club to trade rush chances all night. Shorter shifts and cleaner puck management would serve the Bruins much better.
I’m betting Los Angeles makes Boston earn its offense, with the Bruins showing enough discipline to avoid another wide-open game.
Here’s where the bet can go sideways: penalties. Boston’s man advantage was lethal Friday, and Los Angeles cannot spend the evening giving Pastrnak room to operate. Keep the whistles under control, and five-on-five hockey should give us a much better chance of staying below six goals.
The goalie situation matters, too. Swayman is expected back after getting Friday off, but I’m not treating that assignment as official until the lineup is announced.
At +103, I need this total to cash a little more than 49% of the time to make the price worthwhile. I’m comfortable taking that position given the rest disparity and the adjustments Los Angeles needs to make.
I don’t need a shutout, and I certainly don’t need 60 minutes of spectacular goaltending. Give me a disciplined, low-event game where neither club hands away cheap goals. I’ll take the plus money with the Kings rested and Boston playing on consecutive nights. Los Angeles has every reason to tighten things up defensively, and that’s exactly the kind of game I want when betting the Under.
Under 5.5 (+103) is my bet.
