2026 NHL Handicapping – Calgary Flames vs San Jose Sharks
Here’s why I’m backing an UNDER bet below in my Flames Sharks free pick & gambling prediction for this matchup.
Flames vs. Sharks Gameday
The Calgary Flames visit the San Jose Sharks on Monday, November 2, 2026, at SAP Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 9:00 PM ET, with coverage on ESPN+.
Calgary enters at 6-8-0 under Ryan Huska. The Flames have won just 1 of their 6 road games, and that three-game road losing streak is becoming an expensive habit.
Calgary’s road performances have been ugly, and the standings aren’t handing out sympathy points.
The Flames lost 5-2 to Colorado on Saturday.
That setback followed an impressive 6-2 victory over Seattle. Calgary is 6-4-0 over its L10 games, but stringing together quality performances remains a challenge.
San Jose is 7-7-1 under Ryan Warsofsky. The Sharks have won just once in their last 4 games.
The Sharks were beaten 5-1 by Ottawa in their latest outing.
San Jose previously edged Vancouver 3-2 behind 2 goals from Will Smith. There’s talent in this lineup, although the results haven’t always reflected it.
Calgary has enjoyed considerable success against San Jose in recent seasons. The Flames swept the 2024-25 series and took 3 of 4 meetings in 2025-26.
Both teams are trying to establish some consistency. Calgary needs a road victory, while San Jose has an opportunity to finish its homestand on a better note.

Calgary Flames vs. San Jose Sharks Odds & Previous Games
San Jose opened at -137 on the moneyline, with Calgary returning +116. The Sharks are -1.5 (+176) on the puck line, while the Flames are +1.5 (-217). The total is 6.5 goals, with the Under priced at -117.
San Jose is a modest home favorite. Calgary offers a decent underdog return, although its road record makes that price difficult to embrace.
The Flames beat Toronto 5-2 and Detroit 4-1. They also suffered a 4-0 loss to Edmonton.
San Jose lost 2-0 to Buffalo and 6-4 to Boston. The Sharks also defeated Ottawa 6-2 before their latest setback.
Calgary has won 3 of its L5 games. The Flames have scored in bunches during victories but haven’t maintained that production consistently.
San Jose is 4-5-1 over its L10 games. The Sharks have averaged 2.7 goals per contest during that stretch.
Neither club has earned much confidence as a favorite. San Jose gets home ice, but Calgary’s history in this matchup gives bettors something else to consider.

Sharks Stats
San Jose has scored 40 goals through 15 games, averaging 2.67 per contest. The Sharks have also produced 12 power-play goals, giving them an important offensive weapon.
Macklin Celebrini remains central to the attack. His speed and puck skills create opportunities even when the rest of San Jose’s offense goes quiet.
Smith has provided another scoring option. His finishing ability gives Warsofsky a dangerous young forward capable of making defenders pay.
San Jose has plenty of young talent, but potential doesn’t put goals on the scoreboard.
The Sharks rank among the NHL’s more physical teams in hits. They’ve also been willing to block shots and battle for possession.
Turnovers remain a concern. San Jose has struggled with giveaways, creating unnecessary problems in its defensive zone.
Yaroslav Askarov has handled a heavy workload in goal. He’s recorded 4 wins with a 3.01 GAA and .900 save percentage.
Alex Nedeljkovic provides another option between the pipes. His presence gives Warsofsky flexibility when managing the goaltending rotation.
Alexander Wennberg and Igor Chernyshov are sidelined with upper-body injuries. Their absences have reduced San Jose’s forward depth.
Flames Stats
Calgary has scored 36 goals through 14 games, averaging 2.57 per contest. The Flames have struggled to maintain offensive pressure for extended stretches.
Joel Farabee has collected 12 points over his L8 games. His recent production has been one of Calgary’s brighter spots.
Matt Coronato remains an important scoring option. His ability to finish chances gives Calgary another threat beyond its veteran forwards.
Matvei Gridin has contributed 10 points. His development has provided some encouragement during an otherwise uneven start.
Calgary’s power play is converting at 33.3%. That’s impressive production for a team struggling to score consistently at even strength.
The Flames allow 3.71 goals per game. Those defensive problems have repeatedly put additional pressure on their offense.
Jonathan Huberdeau and Samuel Honzek remain unavailable. Brennan Othmann is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
Devin Cooley is sidelined with a lower-body injury. Dustin Wolf remains an important option as Calgary manages its goaltending depth.
Flames vs. Sharks Goalie Matchup
Wolf is a possible starter for Calgary, although the assignment remains unconfirmed. He’s 2-4-0 with a 4.39 GAA and .847 save percentage.
Those numbers reflect a difficult opening month. Calgary needs to provide considerably better defensive support.
Arsenii Sergeev offers another option with Cooley unavailable. Huska has not confirmed his starting assignment.
San Jose could turn to Askarov. He’s faced plenty of pressure behind a young defensive group.
Nedeljkovic remains another possibility for the Sharks. Warsofsky has not announced his starter.
Both clubs have struggled with defensive consistency. Their goaltenders have frequently been forced to deal with difficult scoring opportunities.

Calgary must limit second chances around its crease. San Jose needs to clean up its puck management and avoid handing opponents easy opportunities.
The final starting assignments remain important. Neither club should be credited with a confirmed advantage in goal before those decisions are announced.
Calgary Flames vs. San Jose Sharks bottom line: Calgary’s road struggles meet San Jose’s inconsistent offense in a divisional matchup where neither team has established much reliability.
Calgary Flames vs. San Jose Sharks Hockey Betting Trends

- Calgary has recorded a 3-2 record in their last five games this season.
- Also, the Flames have seen the total go over in 3 of their last 5 games.
- San Jose went 22-60 straight up last season.
- The Flames went 38-27-17 straight up last season.
Flames Sharks Free Pick: Under 6.5
Here is my Flames Sharks free pick: I’m betting Under 6.5. Calgary has been getting its offense in bursts, and San Jose hasn’t shown enough finishing consistency to justify expecting seven goals. One big scoring night doesn’t suddenly make either club an offensive powerhouse.
Here’s where I see the edge. Calgary has to be more careful with the puck on the road, and San Jose’s young forwards can get impatient when the easy chances disappear.
I’m not betting on great defenses here; I’m betting against two offenses putting together a full 60 minutes.
Special teams are the danger. Calgary’s power play can punish careless penalties, so staying disciplined is important to this bet.
But I expect long stretches where both teams struggle to establish sustained pressure. Neither club has been reliable enough offensively to assume the scoring will keep coming once the first goal goes in.
A 3-2 or 4-2 final works just fine.
The number gives us room for a few defensive mistakes without losing the bet, and I’m comfortable taking that chance.
My NHL betting system play is Under 6.5.
