Coming off a 4-0 shutout loss to the Islanders, the Bruins will look to bounce back and take care of a deflated Detroit Red Wings team.
The Red Wings, still struggling to find consistency, are coming off a solid 1-0 win over the Canadiens and will look to gut out another win over a tough team.
Boston Bruins
Boston currently sits 2nd in the Atlantic Division and shouldn’t have much trouble making the playoffs this year. However, the Bruins have been inconsistent and aren’t stringing together a lot of wins in a row.
Boston has won just two out of the last five games and are still struggling on the offensive end.

The Bruins rank 20th in the league in goals scored this season with 117. Boston averages about 2.48 goals per game.
Right winger David Pastrnak continues to be Boston’s best offensive weapon. This year, he has 19 goals and 14 assists. He has five assists over his last five games. Pastrnak is the Bruins’ top-line weapon and he’ll be needed against this Red Wings team.
Left winger Brad Marchand has been solid this year. He has 17 goals and 26 assists, including five goals and four assists in the last five games.
He’s been on fire recently and he’ll look to continue that fantastic play on Wednesday night.
Detroit Red Wings
While not mathematically eliminated from the playoff race, the Red Wings aren’t looking poised to make a run in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The injuries continue to be a big problem for Detroit. Jimmy Howard, Niklas Kronwall, and Brendan Smith are still out with injuries and that has really hurt the Red Wings.
Things aren’t going well for Detroit on either side of the ice, with the offense struggling to score and the defense having a hard time keeping other teams from scoring.
Detroit ranks 22nd in the NHL in goals scored (112) and 19th in goals against (127). The minus-15 goal differential definitely isn’t conducive to a winning season.

Thomas Vanek and Dylan Larkin are the top weapons for Detroit and they’ll be needed against a tough Boston team. Vanek leads the team with 12 goals and 18 assists, including three goals and four assists over the last five games.
Larkin has 11 goals and five assists on the year, but just a lone assist in his last five games. He’ll look to add to his tally on Wednesday.
NHL Betting Trends:
- The Total has gone OVER in four of Detroit’s last five games
- The OVER is 3-2-0 in Boston’s last five games
Free Boston Bruins vs. Detroit Red Wings NHL Hockey Prediction:
Boston should be able to get a win in the Joe on Wednesday. The Red Wings are still plagued by injuries and really aren’t that good on either side of the ice. Boston gets the W on the road.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Boston ML
While Boston is just 2-2-1 in its last five games, the Bruins are still a good team with solid offensive weapons. I like the Bruins money line in this one.
